Best everton player this century?

this might be controversial, and no doubt I'll get flamed for this; but I think Pienaar is an average player with a high work rate that is made to look better than what he is because he plays in front of Baines. That isn't to take anything away from Pienaar, he really plays well for us and is an important part of the team. But he's not that special, and he is a perfect example of someone working hard overcoming the limitations of his ability.

Baines is in my mind, the best player we've had in a blue shirt this century.

Rooney was still a young promising player when he played for Everton, is a striker who scored 17 goals in 77 games better than the best left back in the league?

I think Baines is the best player we've had this century, I'd argue that Fellaini and possibly others are better than the 16-18 year old Rooney.

When David Moyes first arrived at Everton he asked, "How good is this Rooney lad?" He was told, "He's the best player at the Club, boss." He was 15 at the time like.

I think the signing of Cahill coencided with the team starting to make progress up the table. He brought much to the team and stuck around much longer than Rooney. Also, he did a lot for raising the clubs profile internationally. A truly fantastic player and I was sad to see him go even if he was on the way down when he left

This century It would be a toss up between Cahill and Baines for me.

I don't think we saw enough of Rooney to consider him the best player, he could have been and should have been.
I would have loved to seen him stay for two more seasons, I would also have loved Nigel Martyn to sign 5 years earlier, and loved us at some stage to buy a better than average right back. but hey ho.
