Beggars

Posted via Mobile Device Fair enough Ghost you have a good point there, some do it when they have no real need of the money, they are not beggars just lazy f*cks on the take and deserve your contempt. 'Real' beggars though, those that have hit rock bottom, and, for whatever reason, are unable to get their life's back together, at least deserve our understanding if nothing else.

Yeah but those guys are easily spotted. At 33 I think I am fairly experienced to spot the genuine from the lazy, maybe i should have made that clear initially.

Mind you the Chester homeless people are strange too, some of them have mobile phones, I see them walking around with sleeping bags, Super T and an old Nokia. I have seen them get ****ed out of their face on alcohol and drugs just so they will get picked up by ambulances and get prioritised shelter for the night.

Some of the homeless also have homeless hookers to service them. It's pretty sick because there is the mother and daughter who service the tramps, the daughter obviously a produce of the mother and a tramp could well be servicing her own Dad. ****ed up.

Did I say he was selling the Big Issue?

I doubt he is in that position because of bad luck, and I don't believe in God - so would prefer not to be forced to part with money that I earn. Why should I give it to him? Why don't the government get him off the streets and into a program where he can regenerate his life?

You said you didn't want to buy his magazine, so I assume you meant the Big Issue. Perhaps the magazine was Homeless Weekly or the Daily Skag?

Anyway Nick, it sounds to me like you're genuinely upset by homelessness, which is why you mention things like guilt.

If you don't want to give, just say no to them. That doesn't make you bad, it just makes you discerning with your money. I'm sure, confident even, that you do your share for charities in other ways.

But they're not all bad people mate, and the majority of them really have been through the mill.

Not to get all sanctimonious , but not everyone whos homeless is a waster . Check the repo'-divorce/seperation rates .
As for giving , I take it on the individual . I rarely , if ever take the mag , and always say , " get a butty , lad-girl , ... "
Keeps my conscience clear , anyway .

I would have put money on you saying that, lcab. You're a good lad, that's all I have to say.(y)

Maybe they have, or maybe they haven't. Maybe the government should bail them out instead of claiming for sundry items? I'll keep my pound in my pocket, because believe it or not - I need it to help keep me off the streets.

So basically it's all about the working and middle classes sharing the wealth with the poor. Maybe I should get myself off to the rich part of town and ask for money so I can afford to get a PS3.

Surely it's all relative?

Posted via Mobile Device Go on Nick, come clean mate, you,re a big softy wofty on the inside ain't you, heart of gold 'an all that! (wink)

I dont want to upset you anymore than you are, but it's £1.50 now. :P

I read it, but seems to be marketing ploy to gain sympathy. Why not give them names, and perhaps a different picture for the people? I don't feel sorry for someone who has messed his life up somewhere along the line.

I know it's a controversial comment, and I suppose I should have perhaps gone to a less tree hugging site, but it's my opinion and it annoys me.

Why they stand outside Somerfield which fleeces you anyway before you get out the store, is beyond me. I only go there because it's closer but it's not what I want.

Is it innovative to stand there and every now shout out for money? No. He seemed to be dressed in decent clobber, and I have heard tales of them living in relative luxury but still begging.

Although I feel sorry for the man murdered, but I my level of sympathy for someone murdered is no different if they are homeless or not.

Fukn hell , Ghost . I get it . Youre a grafter . But not everyone is a ; able , and b; sometimes fortunate enough to manage as you do .
Im with the , " There but for the grace of God " , squad , as I know people who have suffered . Nearly did meself once . Not that extreme though . Still , wouldnt want to go there again .
P.S. I think even you will admit , the , Big Issue-er owns boss house , blag , is precisely that . Urban myth of the worst kind .

Mind you, can you apply the term beggar with justification? They buy those copies of Big Issue for one price and sell them on for a profit. Classic entreprenuers. M-C-M.

I don't believe in God. I believe we make choices in life and we have to live by those choices.

Perhaps we are free to make choices (but we're not). But then you should admit that the choices they make are largely determined by ****e past events; that is, events that are different, more stark and altogether less attractive than your past events. So it's hardly surprising that their choices lead onto the type of events that you disapprove of.

Mate , I dunno if youre on a slight wind-up , here , but if not , there are such things as extraneous events , lad . Things out of one's control / relationships that just go tits-up for no rhyme or reason , etc .
Plus , I wouldnt let it bother me if I felt that strongly about it , and , as a rather left - field example , if we , as a club , had not given the Big-Man a second chance , then wevde never have had the Anfield Star jump , the Skippers salute , two at Utd , and that roof-lifting header on 04/05 , etc.
You dont have to believe in God to want the best for people . Irrespective of their choices .
