It depends how we use him really, he doesn't have to play with another out and out striker, but he does need a presence close to him, someone who can be the battering ram and hold the ball up, which is basically Cahill's role in the side.

With Cahilll away I'd stick Rodwell in that position, personally. Not like he played against West Ham, but right up there, almost as a second striker. Similar to how players like Gerrard and Diaby play in that role.

I have a feeling the Bilyaletdinov-Beckford combination would be a little lightweight, and the ball would just end up coming back at us. Bilyaletdinov struggles to shield the ball against fullbacks, I'm not sure how he'd do against six foot plus centre backs and physical defensive midfielders. Although saying that, I have no idea how he'd perform the role. Some players really come into there own in more natural surroundings, Osman for example.

Yakubu-Pienaar would be an interesting one.

Bily only gets 5 mins because of the crowd ! This is fact, he feels that the crowd get on his back too early which is what our fans do ! A lot of supporters do this far too quickly with some of our players . Others and I won't name them have got away with murder this season !! I'd love to see Bily and Becks given a good run in the team.

How incredibly ridiculous.

Both the fans who do jump on our players and a so called Premierleague manager who doesn't play a player for 30 mins incase he gets booed for not scoring a wondergoal after 5 mins so instead plays him 5 mins just so people don't have a chance to boo him when he doesn't score a wondergoal.

Maybe if we start booing Arteta, Saha and Hibbert Moyes will stop playing them too. Nice to know what he bases his team selection on. Well one of many strange reasons apparently.

Do a couple of press interviews Dave telling everybody you are going to give Billy a run in the side to boost his confidence and let him show what he can do and encourage the fans support. Maybe go out to try and win a game within the first 60 mins then when we are 2-0 up bring someone on to give them a chance to get into the game and do something.

Whatever you do do soemthing other than the stupidity of bringing subs on in injury time. Thanks.

Sorry, mini rant there.

Even if Moyes doesn't pick Bily because of the crowd, then it's Moyes' job to fix that. Either by issuing a statement to the fans (maybe a press conference akin to the "give Beckford time" ones) or by talking to Bily and telling him to stick at it and not let it bother him. We Evertonians always applaud effort, and players who try, so as long as he goes for it he won't get too much abuse.

It's not an excuse, or a valid reason, to not play a £9 million, talented player. In my opinion.

watch that video. he creates very few of his own opportunities, but he is an excellent poacher with a knack for getting into the right place at the right time. He needs other around him making runs, creating space, etc to be effective though. Straight hoofball won't help him, but he could be successful if the midfield pushes forward.

I like the idea of pairing him with Vic or Yak in a 4-4-2 or if while cahill's out, it we still play lone up front, bily behind as long as bily, pienaar, coleman, felli, arteta, rodwell and anyone else in midfield is making runs and causing chaos for the D.

regarding bily only getting 5 minutes due to the crowd, I agree with RFUS, there is plenty Moyes can do there. Press confrence, coaching, or at the very least, play him in an away game! Let him get a few good touches and a little confidence, and he would be ready to play at home.

Not excusing the home fans, but that isn't an excuse for away games...

That is all you need to know about the lads instinctive goalscoring threat.
I hadn't seen that goal before. Nice one mate.

I love the little run into space even before Baines had won the ball back. And the way he held the challenge off with his arse before slotting home a great finish.

As you say. Instinct.

Get Je on

Starting him up front with Anichebe would be interesting, I'm desperate to give anything a twist at the moment to see start scoring goals though.

Scunthorpe might be a good starting point to see if that works next week.

Not for me ... a gamble on a free, not sure he is up to it though. Sadly I'm not convinced on any of the youngsters coming through either, Vic, Vaughan, Baxter, Agard etc... Yak should go, his confidence is fooked. Think I'd even be happy to see Robbie Keane at the mo.

Bentner for me I think, perhaps Carew....dunno what the answer is ????

If we get no one in the transfer season, Beckford is it. I'd like him in a 4-4-2 as well - he doesn't have the experience to be on his own upfront yet.

Movement is good. Touch is awful. Hold up play poor.

Hes a trier and i dont think he gets hit by drops in confidence because hes well known for missing sack fulls of chances and scoring 1 or 2 out of 10 given to him.

Problem i think is, throughout 90mins we only really have 20minute spells where we create chances...rest of the time we lack ideas and creativity
