Bily.

We've got the goal of the season comp nailed if Moyes gives this a go...

might even get into Europe as well...

Bily as a strike partner? That's going to be the least physical attack in the league! They'd get bumraped.

I wouldn't mind chebe partnering Beckford, with Bily just behind though. Perhaps a diamond-like formation.

I'd keep him as a supersub, using his pace against tired legs. But give him a good half hour not 2 minutes like West Ham.

I wouldn't mind him being a sub, so long as he gets 45 minutes. Absolutely no less than 30 minutes. But <10 -- what he's been getting -- is shocking.

When Moyes made that sub , I just wanted to slap him round the back of his head...
This^^^ I really dont see the point in bringing on players at that time apart for time wasting tactics, you can see in the players face as if to say 'whats the fkin point!' Then he gets a rocket up his arse of moysie for missing chances when he has absolutely no time at all to get into the game! Same applies for billy, would love to see them both get a chance over the next few games. You've only gotta watch the you tube clips of billy playin in his preferred position of AM to see what a talent the boy is.
I wont hold my breath tho....

I would give him a go in a pairing. But that kind of thinking is out of Moyes range at the moment it seems. He has been very hit and miss, but he just has the look of one of those 'confidence' players (i.e if he is confident, he looks really good, if he is down on form, then he looks like the league one plodder).

I was thinking more Bily roaming round behind the forward. We can't get muscled out any more than we have been. No Cahill soon, as you know.

Plus, trying this upfront shouldn't cost us goals at the back, and we ain't scoring much with our previous tactics and players.

Bily needs half a yard near the edge of the box and permission to shoot.

I agree completely with you on Bily, but Beckford is a terrible lone striker. If he plays, he needs a strike partner.

I think the lone striker thing never works when we play hoofball. We launch the ball up hoping that the striker is either going to head it on to no-one or control it and hold the ball up.

Too much room for error in my opinion.

Maybe Saha??? Saha is just as ineffective as a lone striker. In the games where Yak / Beckford, or Saha / Beckford play, we always look like a bit longer than 10 minutes could get us some goals.

I dunno. But defo think there are other things Moyes could try without loaning people in. Players don't forget how to play overnight, but teams can close down your game plan in half that time.

He'd be a terrible loan striker if we're playing hoofball and hoping to gain territory via a knockdown from a header etc, but if we're playing on the floor and looking to thread balls through with the wingers diving in behind the full backs, then it'd work.

Similar to how Villa plays up top with Messi and co. flooding forward.

I'm not saying Beckford is David Villa and Pienaar is Messi of course, but you understand what I mean :)

Anichebe can do the lone striker thing. In the city game, he was actually holding the ball up very well. Sure, he got sent off, but it was a tiring game, especially for someone out of practice, and it was a harsh red. But his actual hold up play was good; strong, good aerially and he brought the midfield into play.

Point is, he'd be my choice for a lone striker, with Bily in the Cahill role. If Beckford does play, I'd have chebe partner him in a 4-1-2-1-2.

I think Beckford lacks the characteristics required to play alone up front. It's too much of a handicap for him to ask him to do that role. The same with Johnson, Beattie and Yakubu... There's a reason David Moyes has not had a successful striker.

To play that role of a lone striker effectively for the team, you either need to be World Class, or able to hold the play up and effectively bring others in to play.

He can't hold the ball up and he has a poor first touch. He's an instinctive finisher, someone seemingly at his best playing off the shoulder.

He certainly doesn't look a striker who is at his best with his back to goal.

With Cahill off, I'd like to see him played up top with Anichebe, with Bily involved centrally.

Yeah i'd like to see that.

Get Fellaini where he should be, Bily where he should be. I bet we'd smash everyone, such is the randomness of Everton.

Beckford has to be played and played regularly in a 4-4-2.

Yak could come good I suppose but he certainly isn't what he use to be. I personally think Anichebe & Beckford needs to be the tandem for the rest of the year at least through the Asian Cup.

This.
Knowing Moyes though.... Billy is still getting 5 minutes a game for some reason.

Bily only gets 5 mins because of the crowd ! This is fact, he feels that the crowd get on his back too early which is what our fans do ! A lot of supporters do this far too quickly with some of our players . Others and I won't name them have got away with murder this season !! I'd love to see Bily and Becks given a good run in the team.
