Baxter? How did he do?

Thanks and before someone comes out with "But hes played there before" that was in the championship and there is a massive difference, you cant get away with half the [Poor language removed] you can in that league especially in a holding role. Premiership strikers will punish you 9 times out of 10, Yak, Cruz for instances.

If hes desperate to play DM im sure hes more than welcome to join North End or someone and contend against the likes of Akinbiyi week in week out, id rather just see an end to this spell of him in that position as i think he is a good CB (not great tho!).

Are we talking about Jag here?

He played for Sheff Utd in that position for the majority of his time there. He is well used to the position, he just isnt very good

Like i said a DM in the championship is not the same as a DM in the premiership. You're positioning needs to be about 10 times sharper and there has to be some direction to tackles you put in, not just aimlessly depossessing the opposition. I'm sorry but he looks like he never played that position in his life and he certainly isnt up to the quality.

Anyway this is a ridiculous argument, anyone who genuinely feels that Jags was playing a position he can competently do and was just being [Poor language removed] please tell me what they have based this on, as i've never seen him do it well and I refuse to take playing it at Sheff Wed as a reasonable evidence.

You seem him sliding out onto his arse across dunn as dunn takes times to pick his shot.

Sheff Wed???????????

Sheff Wed???????????

My apologies Sheff Utd, still one season in the premiership and going straight down pretty much says what ive been saying, not good enough. They conceded 55 goals with Jags at DM in the premiership, we scored that many last year

And yea credit where credits due he did make a good pass, we waited all game for it though and its hardly enough for him to warrant a starting place there (which im pretty sure hes always said he prefers playin there). But still are people actually sayin that he can play there hes just been playing badly? I'm sorry i cant see anything that warrants him playing DM over CB, he's proved hes a competent centre back and shown he isnt a fantastic DM, therefore playing him there is playing him out of position, not like we've got a choice.

I just hope we get someone to replace him so we dont have to have this pointless argument anymore!

Baxter's activity and anticipation were the primary assets he brought into the match. I thought he was extremely confident and, unlike most of our other players, focused. He played beyond his age and I hope Moyes has him starting next weekend.

Whilst we're searching for Plan B on personnel assets, Moyes must be willing to shift the lineup around and get the best 11 on the pitch. Baxter demonstrated in this last match that he wasn't intimidated or overwhelmed. We need that out there for the whole of the match.

Baxter certainly elevated the crowd when he came on. What we have to understand and I know were selfish but he and Rodwell are going to make some bonehead mistakes that comes along with the youth. Overlook that these two look the part. They play with their heads up and are not trying to get rid of the ball like a hot potato. Even if we do slip this year due to the squad problems I hope these two play a lot and forge into great prem players.

Think we have to look at Yobo and Lescott, Yobo just wasn`t there yesterday.Baines will have to improve to nail his name to L/B but its early for him and somebody needs to tell Pip that hoofing the ball straight out or to the opposition isnt the idea of the game.
Just a poor game yesterday, just write it off and move on.
