Baines to Man Utd

I posted an in depth analysis of this and how it's likely to play out before, but when I clicked on Reply Groucho was telling me he'd locked the thread.

I'd type it out again but I've forgotten what I was on about. (I'm in the early stages of dementia. I saw Dave Hickson play)

Good to hear.

Fellaini leaving you think?

nope...Rooney is going, Suarez is going, Bale maybe going...all looks possible... Fellaini, Baines, Jagielka....staying. Players tend to go when a bid comes in that really suits the club and they can improve as a result or the player kicks up so much fuss it ends up better to get rid....so Rooney, Suarez..gone...Bale...possibility....if someone comes in with 10 to 15 million for Jelavic and Marinez thinks we can get a 15-20 goal striker in for less...its one to consider

That's not in pounds is it?

I'm glad a lot of you are not worried about this rumour. Baines is much better then Evra. Moyes is a massive fan of him. He got two years left on his contract and will be cheaper if Baines tells the board he not renewing. Are some of you saying Moyes wont want him or Baines wont go there?

think I would go along with those who think they wouldn't offer anything that is anywhere near suitable, and I think a decent manager would risk him going for nothing to get a crucial couple years out of him, and it is only a risk its not definite, good chance a new contract is signed this year. Its ncicer to think that a player who loves the club, has become world class here, is rich for the rest of his life, is definitely his own man...why go?

I can only assume it's in Zimbabwean dollars. A 10 goal a season striker would be an improvement over the Jelavic we had this season.

was obviously exaggerating for effect, but as we now discussing this, I don't think I would risk selling Jelavic on the cheap, which I reckon is the same or a bit more than we got for him, just in case last year was the blip, no the six months before and can't see any sensibly priced striker coming to us with even a ten goal guarantee at the moment, would put a few quid on Mirallas being top scorer next season

Think he'd be a great option up front but he'd need a partner imo and we'd need a new right winger.

That's how I thought about Rooney. The world class wasn't quite there then, but we knew he would be.

doesn't Martinez use wing backs ...maybe Coleman will go back to that kind of role, although love him as a full back. just our of interest this is site that shows accuracy of rumours...not sure what constitutes a rumour as opposed to making stuff up, but assume they mean something that is substantial in some way.... the Manchester/London rags do pretty badly. one in five turns out to be true, and that doesn't seem to be over a transfer period so if they keep saying baines is going for another five years it will counted as right if he does when he is 34. also worth thinking there accuracy with Manc/london transfers prob higher cos they less likely to use blind speculation

Weren't the papers selling Baines for £5m last season, i'll believe it if, or when it happens.

The talk is Evra to Monaco for £10 mill, well if thats the case then £10 mill for Baines is way out, double that if they are genuinely making a bid!!!
