Player Valuation: £950k
Leighton Baines returned from injury and slotted back in at left back today with a good solid performance. Bryan Oviedo played left wing today but we know Steven Pienaar will usually take the left midfield role leaving Oviedo to compete with Baines for the wing back role.

Oviedo has played outstandingly well notably capping great performances with goals against Stoke City, Man Utd, Fulham, and has been excellent in defensive duties as well.

Baines is an established player in the Everton side and is rated as the best left back in Europe if not the world. He has an England place to grab and needs to he playing the next five months to play ahead of Ashley Cole at the World Cup.

Do you think Oviedo should be dropped to the bench, taking into consideration his excellent form and contribution to the team. He's hit the ground running and I say he should be starting at Left back against Stoke with Baines on the bench. Oviedo deserves to keep playing because his form has been top notch and looks to be getting better and better. What do you think? Do you think Baines should be starting due to his level of consistency, great delivery and deadliness from set pieces matched with his experience of playing at this level for many years?

Yes.

Baines is better.

For me BRyan has to stay at left back. Its only fair. My fear is the effect it would have on him and team morale.
Goes against everything Martinez says about taking your chance.

Before today I thought Oviedo deserved to keep his place, but there's something reassuring about seeing Baines out there. Worked out nicely though, they both got to play.

Done exceptionally well, as you said, but due a rest now perhaps? Subbed for Pienaar today and with Baines being out for a few weeks he'll be the fresher of the two.

You can't drop Oviedo who's played out of his skin since November 30th. He's lit up the place and became a hero at Old Trafford on December 4th.
He was great at Arsenal as well that same week. He's brought a positive feeling to the starting 11, I actually want him to start, until he doesn't deserve to.

I'd say Oviedo. For me, Oviedo has shown he has the defensive capabilities, which he's shown in the last month or so, he has also shown he's happy to get forward a lot, and not afraid to use his very strong right foot, and get in the box too.

For me, Baines showed little in the weeks before his injury, he wasn't great today, which is fine, seeing as he's coming back from Injury, but i felt it massively hampered Oviedo's game.

May aswell add, that Baines is the better player, but for me Oviedo has been brilliant in Baines' absense, why should he be dropped?

Due a rest? No chance. Play him on Wednesday, play Baines against QPR, then Oviedo against Norwich.
