Bad ref decisions - for and against - season 2025/26

If Armstrong wasn't there, his covering defender would have headed it away, he was also millimetres away from heading it whereas the lad tonight was nowhere near heading it

If Armstrong not being there means the defender can head the ball away then the same applies to the guy tonight not being there and one of our defenders heading it away.

The lad was unmarked mate, he wasn’t interfering with Pickford or any of our defenders. Him standing in that position didn’t gain any advantage in Bournemouth’s goal.

10/2/26 Everton 1 Bournemouth 2

Penno to us - correctly given.
Penno for them not given but could and possibly should have been given.
Their 2nd given after offside player jumps for the ball - misses it - and its headed across for them to score. How have VAR not seen him jump and not consider that it was an attempt to play the ball. Same situation as O'Briens disallowed goal vs Villa.
O'Brien then gets sent off for foul when their player would have been through. Probably a fair decision - but some debate over whether his touch would have allowed a challenge.
VAR again showing inconsistencies. Needs to be binned off.

He attempts to win the ball from an offside position and when he does that he becomes active and interferes with the play so the goal shouldn't stand.

I can see an argument for allowing both the Armstrong goal and the one tonight or disallowing both but you can't give one and not the other.

Needs to impact an opponent though, and he didn’t really. I’d like to say these instances were exactly the same, but they weren’t.

I’m unconvinced on the O’Brien sending off simple because of how far from goal he was.
He’s one that wasn’t given on the edge of the box.
Appreciate they are different as there are arguably other defenders around, but Obriens one was only just over the ½ way line ffs.
