If you have trouble getting in go to NZ, get Citizenship as soon as, then do a runner to Oz...Allegedly.
FYI; Warm in Brisbane all year round not so much Sydney and even less Melbourne...just sayin like.

edit; This may only apply to me, but I was able to save more money in Oz in 5yrs than I did in NZ in 15..
Yeah, I've heard about that route, as used to live in NZ. Didn't like Brizzy that much when I visited, but as a tourist there was less to do I guess. One best mate in Perth, one in Adelaide now- but I have visited neither place, yet. Have family in Gosford, near Sydney- but don't really fancy Sydney. Melbs sounds ok- but it gets a bit wet there doesn't it?

Sounds wonderful that mate. Thanks a lot!

Tassie is actually on my bucket list. Very UK like that place I heard. Would love to visit.
Yeah it is mate. Nice balance of the UK and Australia I find. Good to have the four seasons and a break from the heat, the views are spectacular here, the landscape is very similar to new zealand. Sydney's a beautiful city, plenty of decent bars, nice feel to it. Love being on a night out here and the footy is on in bars round midnight when you're half cut. Miss going the game though which was really weird to adjust to.

Australia is a great country.Melbourne would be my own personal favourite city over there.Mainly because of the sporting culture.I just love the AFL and Melbourne is like the epicentre for aussie rules footy. You haven't lived until you've been to a footy game at the MCG.Up the Melbourne Demons.:)

Yeah gets a bit wet and windy and for a banana bender like me a bit chilly...you have to remember there's nothing between you and the south pole.
I've recently got back and now it's just starting to warm up a bit. If you can't find a decent Greek or Italian restaurant you're not trying.
I found the beer very expensive there, $9.50 for a pint of bland Carlton fizz water and this in a quiet suburban backwater pub not in Town...but maybe it's like a London prices thing. Just like London affordable housing is rare and you have to move far out.
Nice place to visit, but as they used to say, I wouldn't live there for quids mate...could be me though.

Hi there.

So I'll be immigrating to Australia in a couple of months. So among other things, I was thinking how would I get to watch Everton live on TV in Oz? Apart from searching for live streams, do I have to subscribe to certain channels? Heard something about getting Optus which shows some PL games so far.

So just thought if there are some Aussie Evertonians here, they could have a better clue what's the best way to watch Everton down under.

Thanks!
Good to see you posting and good luck with the move mate.

I like the Aussies a lot, but for the purposes of posting on here one must always lament their less than desirable attitude to the indigenous peoples of Australia.

Ha ha, go Saints! Melbourne traffic is a killer, house prices are insane.

Went for a couple of drinks last night with the missus, over $30 a round for a beer and a cocktail. It's not that bad when you factor in the wages here but as a tourist it's a huge shock to the system.

I thought the Demons would finally make the finals this year, but we were pipped to the post by the West Coast Eagles. Both the Demons and St Kilda are the two clubs with the longest wait for a flag. That was a great St Kilda team that played in the grand finals in 2009 and 2010.I kind of liked how Stephen Milne would always enrage the opposition supporters.lol

Good luck mate, Sydney really is a great city, but if you can afford it you should try to live nearer the coast instead of western Sydney.
Optus is the only way to watch the premier league, they are in the second year of a 3 year deal and you get free access to watch it if you get a $30 per month phone plan. For $5 extra you get a fetch box (similar to apple tv) so you can watch it on tv rather than a tablet/laptop. Some good shows on there too so it's more than just the games. They also have cricket (if that's your thing) and some international football too.

The timings can be a killer on the East coast, I am in Perth so the games are at 10pm which is great, wife and kids have gone to bed and I can watch in peace with a few beers
