Get your mobile with OPTUS, I think they will still give you a mini box for $5per month for the first year. If your phone is unlocked you're laughing. There's a big sales pitch on to sign up customers with 'no contract' (conditions apply naturally) don't dive in, really, really, shop around, they'll rob you blind. But OPTUS are the only ones with PL access

Sydney or Melbourne is seriously expensive even for entry level and the weather in Melb is 'erratic' 19c one day 42c the next. But I'm biased living in Brisbane

Been living in Brisbane like weather for my entire life almost, hence the inclination towards towards cooler cities. However, I'm an open minded person and wouldn't mind going to any other city too. Wherever life takes me!

They really do need lots of Doctors in general. My future missus is already preparing for the Aussie medical exams, the AMCs. Lots of doctors from the UK now seriously are considering moving to Oz.

Yep, go to Sydney first & get the backpacker lifestyle out of your system. Then come to Melbourne for a City to live in rather than visit.

Weather is nicer in Brisbane...apart from the occasional Cyclone & floods but if you enjoy variety in your weather & like the idea of a full wardrobe with options, then Melbournes the place.

Something happening everyday & if you love your sport, again, it's Melbourne. Australian Open Tennis, Formula One GP, Moto GP (2 hrs away on Philip Island), Boxing Day Test, Melbourne Cup, AFL (go for Essendon...Black Watch kit), NRL (Melbourne Storm), ARU (Melbourne Rebels), and two A-League teams, Melbourne Victory & Melbourne City (Man City Affiliate).

I really love the idea of enjoying all four seasons, even in 1 day so would love a diverse ward robe. Plus there is this European vibe attached to Melbourne too. Always preferred trams as well to trains. Pretty sure Tim Cahill still plays for Melbourne in the A League.

I really like Tennis and am actually a huge cricket fan too so watcing the boxing day test at the MCG would be fantastic. Then there's the action packed Big Bash league which is always nice.

So I guess it'll be good to know about multiple cities. Know lots of friends and relatives in Sydney so that's the place to go for now. Hopefully as I blend in the Aussie life I can plan on switiching cities.

Yes possibly, but I've lived in Brisbane for 7yrs and if it gets down to 19c I put a jumper on and shut he doors.

I emigrated in 2000 and literally lived ALL over the country,

I finally rested in North Brisbane, Mandurah in WA #2 and Melbourne #3 (if only the weather was better and the people were more like queenslanders there would be no question Melbourne #1
