Attending the Dallas Cup this week

For those that actively follow the Everton youth, do you see any of these making an impact with the first team as early as next season. Previous conversations make it sound like Ledson and Henen are the ones with the best chance (though Henen isn't even ours technically), but do you actually see it happening?

Yes, Henen was loaned in the summer with some rumours that he had an overinflated ego although he seems to have been doing pretty well in the U21s.

If you happen to get to our SF game would be grateful if you can let us know your thoughts as am guessing they will block us from streaming again. Hopefully the lads are just resting today, especially those who played for England must be exhausted!

No problem - not 100% sure I'll make it but if I do I'll try and post updates during the game.

First goal against the Japanese side was a great individual effort by #21 Henen - its tough to tell on the highlight video but he took on about 5 players and had a quality finish. I was really impressed by him but he gives me the impression that he thinks he's above this level and doesn't put the shift in that the others do. He tends to moan when he doesn't get the ball where he wants it - but I understand he is just getting integrated into this side...is that correct?

Forgot to mention Bainbridge, who was great against LA Galaxy but only came on as a sub late against Japan. Played at RB against Galaxy but was used in the middle for the last 10 against Japan - scored a good goal that was created by your #14 Brewster.

I can see these winning the tournament as I don't think the other sides are as battle tested. Depends on fitness really - its a huge ask to have some of your boys play so many games in such a short time.

.....good point about being battle hardened, I called it winning mentality. Ledson and Kenny were both winners last Summer for England in a European competition and the youth side have been competitive. I know where you are coming from regarding fitness, it's not only recent run of games in a short period they have been on the go since last summer.

I hear good things about Ledson, Dowell, and Kenny.

Browning
Stones
Galloway
Garbutt
Ledson
McCarthy
Barkley
Dowell
Henen
Another....

Everton in four years looks promising, with the likes of Kenny and Green too.

That said, I doubt even half will be regulars.

Would be surprised if browning is in the team
I don't think he will make it sadly.

Kenny I think has a better chance of being our right back
I like Walsh think he has great potential
Also the young wingers Donahue & holland
I know Holland hasn't played loads in this tournament
But has really impressed for England's 17's

I always saw ledson as a defensive. Midfielder
Like against krasnador he sat infront of the centre backs

But lately he seems to be more box to box
He's scoring goals and getting in the oppositions box on a regular basis

The lad has. Some engine 4 games in 6 days and a long flight thrown in
Last night late on was having a shot
The blocking a shot in his own box.
Going to be a top player

How's Tom Davies looked? Heard he's a bit of a young Ledson clone?
Only been able to watch him in the one match that was streamed. He came on for a concussed Walsh 5mins into the game which understandarbly threw the entire team off their stride a bit. Iirc he was solid if unspectacular but given it was his third game in six days, plus a long haul flight to a hot climate, I was impressed by his composure.

This is bold above - left my jaw on the floor with work ethic. There was a sequence exactly as stated above where he blocked a shot and found himself taking a shot from the top of the penalty area all within 10 seconds. My first time ever even hearing his name is this tournament but he looks to be a proper midfielder. Seems his natural tendency is to sit a little deeper but has a nose for the ball in the attacking third as well.

There was a kid I saw here a few years ago that was fantastic - I believe Hope was his last name...is he still with your club or has he moved on? Looked a big talent up front but have never seen him with your first team.

We had to Bury him.

Buried at Bury - what were the expectation of him at Everton? Was there disappointment he never made it?

I remember him getting sent off against United in the Dallas Cup semi for stamping on a player. He was really impressive that year until that moment.

Ledson has been with Everton since he was five and although he is talented think it is his work ethic and leadership skills that really seperate him from his peers.

iirc he's been made captain in every age group he's played including for the England u17s who won last years Euros. Very much the type of player you want in a high pressure crunch game as he'll not only give his all but demand the same of his teammates.

Btw as you say he is usually tasked with being a holding midfielder but particuarly if chasing a game he often pushes up higher and he can take some nice set pieces. This didn't go as intended - was meant to be a pass - but ended up pretty special anyway:p

Kenny definitely, Green, doubt it.
