Wish it was like that more often. Deffo lifted the team.
Hang on though, I thought the team needed to give the crowd something to sing about for them to be loud??

Vicious circle. Crowd not behind the team. Atmosphere drops. Performance levels drop. Crowd gets worse.Hang on though, I thought the team needed to give the crowd something to sing about for them to be loud??
I agree, the atmosphere before kick off is a boost for the team before a ball has been kicked. Kendal used it as a team talk before the Cup winners semi final, against Bayern Munich.Vicious circle. Crowd not behind the team. Atmosphere drops. Performance levels drop. Crowd gets worse.
Too many glory hunting plastics flying in from all over the show. Dropping £200 a time into the club shop and wearing a half and half scarf. We should be more like the rs in their run down half empty stadium not winning owt for 30 odd years.GOT 2025. . . .
'Atmosphere in singing section'
The atmosphere in the blue wall singing section is morgue like, what can we do about it? I miss Goodison.
No one is expecting THAT atmosphere against Burnley... but there's a middle ground between that and the complete lack of an atmosphere that there is at many home games. No, it still needs to come from the players. There has to be something to support.
That atmosphere was unique because it was as much of a threat to our own players than encouragement. It was a "we know you're useless, but you're not doing your usual today - you're not rolling over - we're not having it."
That atmosphere against Burnley or whoever from the off would need the fans to be mentally ill. It's just not logical to expect it.
What it shows is what the fans are capable of when given a cause for it. It's up to the players to give us that cause with their effort week on week. The truth is we've had very little to support on the pitch.

I just don't get people who go to the game and don't make a noise/get involved. May as well sit at home and watch it on telly in a more comfortable seat if you're gonna do that.
We're always going to be more invested in the team's results than the players who (for the most part) are just passing through - so why wouldn't we want to do anything we can to play our part in the club being successful? Success that WE would enjoy far more than any of the players.
No offence mate, but that's a woeful comparison.Imagine you go to the cinema anticipating a movie you've been looking forward to, and you start watching it and quickly realise it's terrible - would you continue to watch riveted with full attention or would you be disappointed and get increasingly annoyed by it?
That's the issue - if the movie isn't going to give you something to get invested in, then it's obviously going to be difficult to invest in it.
Same with Everton - the onus is for the action on the pitch to give you something to get into. Yesterday was different because it didn't require that because of the off the pitch importance, but for any given other game it has to be the team to lead the charge. Roaring on approval after 60 minutes of misplaced passes and no shots on goal is just illogical, it isn't going to happen - and rightly so.
The atmosphere was boss, we drowned out the RS, I can’t remember a derby at Goodison for years when they’ve been so barely audible.
We need much more of this, the players said it lifted them and they gave everything on the pitch. It defo helps, we need to put in the effort which will be repaid by the team. COYB!!!!!
p.s. Anyone see what the scuffling at the end as the scuffs came out and met with some coming out of the PE was all about?

If I go the cinema and the film is dreadful, nothing I or the rest of the audience do can have even a 1% chance of making the storyline better, or the actors act better. It's pre-determined.
That's not the case with football. There's definitely give and take, and I agree that if the game has been dreadful for an hour it's hard to expect the crowd to stay with it... but that's not the problem, the problem is that in too many games the crowd doesn't even START up for it, never mind stay that way 60mins in.
Yes, but let's say you studiously maintain interest in spite of the lack of quality - it won't make an iota of difference to whether the film improves or not - it either will or it won't. That's not the same as football - we've all seen how a crowd can spur a team on.No not really, if the movie gets better, your interest improves.
I'm not saying we're the only club who have the same problem - but that doesn't mean we should accept it and not at least try to change it.The fans are trained to act a certain way. We've went years with very little to cheer on - so going to Goodison feels like a chore where you expect them to be useless.
It's really not up to the fans to change that attitude, it's up to the club. Every other club has the same issue - even the famed "Liverpool atmosphere" is a myth; it is cult behaviour tradition before the game then complete silence unless the going is good during it.
