It literally says you are interfering if you challenge. We may not like the rule but it’s not even a matter of interpretation.
No, it doesn’t say that. There are two parts.

Part one (this biggest part) means you need to be interfering with play.

Part 2 which is a smaller subsection of part one says you are interfering with play in a number of ways. Specifically, it says you are interfering with play if you challenge an opponent but that is entirely subjective.

If there is a goal line scramble and i’m back in our own half “challenging” an opposing player then i can’t be offside or interfering with play.

As such, the “challenge” which is deemed to be “interfering with play” has to be with an opponent who is actively involved in the goal. In this case, Armstrong was offside and was involved with Guessand I think it was and he was nowhere near or capable of being near O Brien to prevent the goal. Therefore, Armstrong was not “interfering with play”.

We are winning so i don’t care but your interpretation is wrong and lets these refs off the hook for another bad decision much like we see against us every week
