Transfer Rumour Ashley Young

This sort of surprised me, but Sean has not put a foot wrong yet for my money since joining - and is starting to use subs a bit better, too. The mire we were in without workrate, Gordon, Rico, DCL, credible forwards and reliable LB/RBs was unbelievable. Him keeping us up I still think needs to sink in properly.

We're now better organised at the back, which was the first thing Dyche improved. If he thinks this improves us within the constraints of the UTTER DISGRACEFUL FINANCIAL AND TALENT MGT THAT PRECEDED DYCHE, we have to back his judgement.

Defensively and in the middle we look better:
  • CMs in Doucs, Onana are adding goals to experience, both at a good age.
  • Gana has experience, and Garner is rapidly stepping up.
  • Iwobi and McNeil offering more of a threat

I've still got PTSD from watching Holgate play at left back at the end of last season, and Ashley young can cross too. So if this gives us a 1yr fix that helps at the back (Branthwaite looks the real deal to me as well), this is job done and focus on CF and possibly attacking RM, RF we need if Gray isn't gonna fire.

To be fair, I have a lot of time for athletes who keep themselves in excellent condition allowing them to continue well into their thirties and early forties. (prepares for the season ending injury in September)

Funny how age is a massive perception here.

Of course being 38 it isn't a long term move....but unless people have been asleep last 18 months then club is just in a holding position and desperately clinging onto to prem status until the move to BMD actually happens.

Young will help that. He started 23 times for a side that finished 7th last season and under a manager who knows how to organise a defence.

He's a far more relevant player at premier league level than Dele Ali is and plenty were happy to give him a chance when he signed despite all the red flags from his last year at Spurs.

was very underwhelmed by this, but then forgot it's not 2016 or 2017, and we're not about to buy someone from Barcelona, Bayern or Chelsea, and we have to improve on Mykolenko so it looks like we are in for some pragmatic years ahead. If we find 2 young attacking players, 1 experienced CB (should have kept Coady) then i think that's a good enough squad to get to maybe 45 points. Coleman-Tarko-Brainthwaite-Young would make a very interesting back four lol

If BK wants to really think about his legacy and his impact, then think about this feels like early Moyes-era again doesn't it?

Can't wait for this announcement to be dragged well into next week so we can make an embarrassingly massive deal out of a 38 year old signing on a free transfer with an elaborate unveiling video and the website plastered in propaganda articles....
