Transfer Rumour Ashley Young

Not really fussed if he does sign to be fair. But I think it's an indication of where we're at financially, the type of body Dyche wants in, and the short-term view on everything.

Could change but we're still very much in the "patch it up" until the stadium is ready and financially we're not in a mess
We’re having to cut our cloth accordingly. It’s not good enough but it’s where we are at the moment.

If we have to get a load of freebies then that’s what we have to do and let Dyche make the most of it.

It’s not as if the past five years of spending big has got us anywhere is it?

Nearly twenty years ago Rooney left and Moyes got Nigel Martyn, Marcus Bent, James McFadden and Zinedine Kilbane in as last ditch efforts. Oh how our whelm was undered.

Finished in a CL spot.

Martyn, Kilbane and McFadden came in the year before when we still had Rooney, the summer we signed Bent we also got in Tim Cahill

He’s going to be better than Mykolenko and is on a free, so it’s not that bad a signing.

The issue is that it’s the first signing and seems like a lazy effort from the recruitment team.

This.

Whatever happened to scouting and a youth system ?

There`s a whole wide world of players out there, not just players at the end of their career, who ten years ago, wouldn`t have dreamt of coming here, but are now more than happy to come here, to top up their pension.

* Kev doing bits.

Because Brighton are in a position that they can afford to have 1-2 experienced heads as squad players without effecting the younger ones and yes it would be smart if they did it because they’d also sign younger players around it

We seem hell bent on bringing in/re signing old players as first choice players, Lonergan aside, while selling younger players
All of a sudden it seems that other Premier chairmen are asking "what would Brighton do" Are you watching Bill, you've even lost us that mantle.

We haven’t spent big in the last 5 years mind..

I get that. Means to an end.

Just want to know when there's a point we scout well and buy someone in who doesn't cost the earth, who's gonna be developed to be 1st choice *insert position

Not buying 38 year olds to "do a job" for 12 months.
