Text from my gooner mate. "Roydo, right result, just, wrong scoreline. Barkley scores that chance, you would be through, no doubt"

Hard to disagree really.

The turning point this season (and last) was the January transfer window. We were crying out for signings but we did nothing. Doing business in the window is vital, when we signed Jelavic it changed our season for the better.

People will bang on about saving for the summer because its a buyers market, that might be true but will we have 40 points in the bank at Christmas next season? We should always try to capitalise on our present situation, because there's no guarantee we will be in the same position again.

Have only just switched my laptop back on since the battery died at 3-1. Has anyone mentioned Deulofeu not passing to Seamus in the corner, but going inside and losing the ball and Arsenal then racing upfield and scoring their 4th goal?

The sooner he goes back to Barcelona the better for me. He's no team player.

Just back from the game. Thought the better team won, but if Ross had stuck his chance away second half it could have been different. Barry looked his age today - suspect tiredness is taking its toll. Robles made some good saves, but his never catching the ball was ridiculous. Even under no pressure he was punching it, getting no distance and causing panic in the defence. McCarthy had a real go at him at one point in the first half.
Seems like a bit of same old same old now. Against the better teams away you expect to be under the cosh for periods and you need to take your chances when they come along. We didn't create a huge amount today and again our play in the final third was disappointing. Ho hum. Need to push on in the league now - would settle for Europa qualification from Roberto's first season.

I noticed this too, no one has seemed to pick up on it tho

There's some sad and bitter RS over on RAWK looking here for reactions to post on there for a cheap laugh.Let them laugh away at least we are an organisation based on sound sporting principles. At least we are club that has maintained it's dignity unlike that lot of hypocrites with their carry on over the years. At least we are not a club that wasn't born out of a landlords greed!Today is disappointing but we didn't reinvest in the squad in January and the rest is history. But with a bit of investment then we will give the top 4 a crack next year so Martinez really needs to put the foot down in the summer.20 years for a club like us to be without a trophy i hope that statistic alarms the crowd in the board room.If Martinez is backed with sufficient financial resources then we can be a top 4 club.Kenwright has his faults and he doesn't possess the vision to make this club successful in the modern era.Yet at the same time we don't want people like Mike Ashley and the Venkys running this club.I don't want us to be Man City style mercenary outfit either.Let's try and finish the season as best we can and get our sh!t together in the summer.Bill get the checkbook out!Up the Blues Liverpools original and Liverpools only football club.;):)

Aye its 20 years without winning a trophy. But its part of a history of 137 years of generally winning stuff without hurting people, which is not that bad really. A mere blip. We'll be back to winning stuff after this commercial break.

And for those opposition fans tuning it: relax! You're gonna be ok win lose or draw.

Mirallas was guilty (as usual) of selfishness as well. In one first half passage of play he had Lukaku totally free on his right ...but of course went himself

Just like when we were league Champions and ECWC holders and beaten Man Utd 5-0 in the league and 2-1 in the League Cup and still lost the cup to them. Just like when we beat West Brom 6-2 away from home in 1968 just a month or so before they beat us in the cup final. Just like in 1893 :) when we beat Wolves away from home 4-2 with basically a reserve side yet got beat 1-0 1 week later by Wolves in the FA Cup final.

Sorry about that but you can see that sh1t happens :)

Aaaarrrgghh, what have you done?!!! I'm having a relapse! That WBA game! I remember thinking we were going to walk it. I was young and naive and it was the first time that football literally reduced me to tears. I grew up a bit that day and learned that you don't always get what you want. ;-) I remember Gordon West writing in, i think, the Echo saying something along the lines of he shouted so much he nearly lost his voice. We were poor that day and WBA were there for the taking but we didn't take our chances.

Lukaku had a greedy moment too.

When Ox-chambo gave it away, and he got back. Lukaku had Barkley and Mirallas left and right but went alone.

Again. Won't get mentioned.

because hes a fan favourite mate. Barkley or Baines mess up and it will never get mentioned. I would have liked to see Distin as captain. I never ever see Baines going up to the ref or roaring at our players

Barkley and Stones make mistakes = Hes young, he will learn
Geri makes mistakes = can't wait for him to go back to Barca.

At one point, at least, today, Baines was having a right go at Clattenberg, and he was doing more shouting than usual in our box, at corners mostly. Thought he did well.
