@Dario Terracotta @Khalekan

And regrettably fellas, I fear we'll see rather too many more if we're not careful or decisive.
We now have the investment that could/should see us able to attract a true 'winning' manager.
I like a lot of the attacking intentions of Martinez, but and it has to be said within the corridors of power that he is clueless when it comes to the defensive side of the game.
And Wigan fans predicted/told us this scenario would happen... it is/has and must be addressed !!

I agree the money men will take note, but the question for me is when? They may consider giving him another season if he wins it, which may convince players on the fence to go, Europa or no. Champions league is what would convince them in my opinion.

As for Chelsea, i can't argue there. Why they deem it acceptable to play well in the cup and not the league winds me up. All I can put it down to is if they have to stay until the summer they may as well try and win a medal! I hope I'm wrong and they genuinely will stay if we won it, but it feels at times the manager has lost them regardless.

I agree its crazy the way they play up for the cup and hit the skids in the league. Its also indefensible and pathetic. If the financiers give Martinez a wedge for transfers they will want some tangible sort of return regardless .....and theres only Lukaku at present who could feel enititled to covet Champions League football with Barkley and Stones in any sort of attendance.

Block.....I will go one further.

I would get rid now.

The chop is inevitable so let's not prolong the agony

He is a lovely lad and I wish him well but we are becoming......nay, have become.......Wigerton.

We are only headed in one direction now under Bobby.

And that is south.

I will bet my next month's mortgage payment he will not be here in August.

So let's bite the bullet now.

Just write the league off......because we ain't rising much higher and fortunately we are clear of the relegation dogfight.

Let Big Joe take over and gee the team up for the Cup and start headhunting a top class coach to take over in the summer.

Or maybe even try to fetch Jose in on a short term contract until the end of the season.

And remember Block.......Billy Bingham was fired after we had qualified for the League Cup semi final of '76/77.

We beat United at OT in the quarter final and he was fired before the Bolton semi final.

So EFC have form when it comes to dispensing of a manager's services just ahead of a semi final.

Khal, I'm with you 100% !!
Bring in Jose !!
Wasn't BB gassed after the first leg of the semi v Bolton with Gordon Lee in charge just in time for Latch to head the tie-winner ?

Get back to Marbella you tragic spunkmonkeys, you’ve drove your tragic wife to a quivering mess relying on a stash of cocaine and 20 Benson & Hedges, and all through your narcissistic behaviour and domestic violence over the years you balding fat obnoxious texan. You should be taking your grandchild for a bike ride and tending to your garden by now. But no, you’re too busying ringing up talksport and staring out students in pubs as it gives you figurative hard on when your wife in suzzies cannot any more, even with the help of a blue pill.

Didn't have the chance to read the preview and today's dicking wasn't much fun but that paragraph - loved it.

The question is, how much sway Bill K still has. If it is quite a lot, then RM could be here for the next 3 years

No.

He went before it.

Steve Burtenshaw was in temporary charge for the home leg versus Bolton.

Gordon was in situ by the time we went to Burnden Park for the second leg.

I cant understand how our defence still doesn't pick up or mark players....its a recurring feature of our play and surely to Christ someone at Finch Farm has clocked this ? Its totally indisciplined to allow so many opposition players to not only have all the space they need, but also to waltz through with free reign scarcely unchallenged ? Watch how many of our midfield don't go for the ball....McCarthy in particular was guilty today...ball watching then looking - as the ball passed from Arsenal merely feet away but just glanced at it - as though waiting for someone else to go for it. Its a massive error if its being coached into them...or on a match basis ? God knows, it fluctuates. Martinez needs to stop putting square pegs in the wrong holes. If it works one week then, when the structure/game plan changes it doesn't, then surely theres a marker somewhere ? Ive said many times of here how its appalling that we go from an attacking position one minute then lose the ball cheaply/give it away and immediately fall to bits resulting in a goal against within seconds. Surely they see this, yet it recurs with a frequency that's not good for this ole heart of mine...Im sure my pacemaker even hissed "oh FFS " today.

Indeed, Dario.

Gordon's first game in charge was that replay :)

Oh happy day.....I look back on that late 70s era with even greater affection than the mid 80s.

Footloose and fancy free....no wife.....no kids.

Just free to follow the Blues all over England and Europe.

July 1978......that's where it all started going wrong for me.

I asked a girl to dance in the Checkers Club and she became my wife three years later :(

On the day we were wed we played Brughton in one of Howard's early games in charge.

I walked up the aisle with a little transistor in my pocket to keep in touch with the team news and to sneak a listen during the reception

Billy Wright scored in a 1-1 draw, BTW :pint2:

How many teams in this league would have conceded that 2nd goal. Your left back and left centre back 3/4 of the way up the field.
