Today was nothing short of lamentable.
I can (very reluctantly) accept one, two or maybe three players having an off day, but when it gets to eight or nine then I begin to feel as though I'm having the p155 taken out of me.
During my 46 years of watching Everton, I have seen some dross and I can honestly say that today's performance was as woeful and painful to watch as anything I can remember.
There are plenty of others on this forum with equally long or longer tenures as Evertonians - I think they'd pretty much agree.

We were saying exactly the same. Its clear the fans where I sit have had enough of RM. What we can actually do to get him out is another thing

Remember when we had the best full backs in football a couple of years ago under moyes,Martinez has some how turned them into bang average in 2 years.

What basis do you have for that? We've been just as crap in other games this season

No, but when I came home I started to watch a recording of the BT coverage and they had an interview with Rom.

In it he voiced an opinion that we played around with the ball too often in midfield and that sometimes the ball needed hoofing (he didn't use that word) up the pitch.

That sentiment is very much off message, bordering on heretical in Bobby's big book of philosophyball.

He talked about "meetings" the players were having with the management and about his own frustrations at how things were going.

As I was listening to it it dawned on me that our players were like total strangers today.....I have never seen so many passes going astray or so little will to win.

You are right about the team having played "crap" before this season, but never have they played with this type of ennui.

It was all very reminiscent of the Wigan game when the disconnect between the what we now know to be otherwise distracted Moyes and the fans became apparent.

These are desperate days, Blue.

Desperate days.

There is a real fin de una era around the Old Lady now.

IMO there is no way Bobby will be here next season and this has become an open secret among the squad.

We were very, very bad today Banno.

The future may be bright, but two of our best players may well leave us this summer.

I'm not normally this downcast, but RM was clueless today. Clueless

I agree, Arsenal bossed us totally and we showed our rawness, inexperience and inadequacies. I really hope it hits a nerve with RM and he spots the weaknesses in our players that was exposed cruelly today. We usually put up a better fight than that but the class players of Arsenal totally exploited us. Guile and movement destroyed us today. Arsenal are more of a team than us and today we didn't look like a team because our better players were snuffed out leaving the huff and puff players going down blind alleys and not knowing what to do with the ball. I say the future is bright because we are in a situation where we can now upgrade players and not depend on raw potentially great kids. For me we need to upgrade Cleverly, McCarthy, Barry, Jags, Baines and goalies at least. Not saying they are bad players but we can certainly upgrade on them if we are to trade blows with the Arsenals and Man Utds. Why not...we have the money and would still get some kind of return in transfers. I like Martinez and his philosophy but he knows he has to step up to the mark or he will be on borrowed time. Splash the cash on ready made players and why shouldn't he. If he doesn't then I fear it's adios.

Thin is mate, Arsenal played well within themselves. If they'd come here and battered us I wouldn't mind but they weren't exactly at their best - in fact they were far far from it. And that's very worrying.

I don't think it will hit a nerve with RM. He just doesn't see it. He has the blinkers on and always manages to shirk it off.

It's his problem. He needs to sort it.

He made 3 or 4 really good covering tackles and always looked to get on the front foot.

The movement ahead of him was dreadful.

Also didn't look anywhere near as jittery as he has done lately.

I'd start him against United, either in a two or a three, with Mori dropping out if it's a two.

He may not be around for long but he needs to perform to his best if only for selfish reasons.

Get him in the team.

Well, I would not disagree with you about fetching him back in the next game, but not based on how he performed
today.

He was as bad as the rest of them IMO.

The team needs shaken up now.

Stones and Del back will do for a start.

The Lennon love in needs to stop and our most potent threat from the right needs to be deployed again.

I would give Niasse a run on the left instead of Cleverly.....that would at least give the fans a lift, in the hope we see sommat different.

I don't know what the heck we are going to do in defensive midfield as Barry is still out for OT and those other two boys looked catastrophic together today.

The only comfort I can take is that United are in as bad a run of form as we are.

Thank goodness we are far enough clear of the relegation places otherwise the last two months of the season would be nail biting time.

:(

Agree on all bar Lennon.

Would keep Lennon in and play him wide left. Del wide right.

As bad as we were today(and we were!!)it pains me to say I have witnessed many far,far worse performances in my forty five years of going to the game mate(n):(:)

Oh I would agree for sure.

Todsy was just disgusting.

I am sure there were equally shambolic performances in the past but I am hard pushed to think of them, Block.

Fair post, obviously things arent all rosy but I don't think it's a Chelsea at the end of mourhino tenure level of discord mutiny. I think everyone's just frustrated about how the team's struggling. Still think we have a shot in the semi as we seem to play better out of the league
