Simple for me the longer it stays goalless the better our chance, concede early we lose IMHO
Baines would get into any team in the league. I don't think you'll ever be able to say about Gibbs now and or even in the future. Gibbs is very good don't get me wrong, but don't think he'll ever be top class ... like Baines.
You see. That's what irks me a little. Gibbs is already a great player at such a young age. Obviously Baines is better, but he ain't better than him by the margin you think he is.
Gibbs has every bit the chance to surpass him.
He was close to being the most creative player in Europe last year, his defensive game is excellent and he's been doing it pretty much since the age Gibbs is now. I've taken your opinion into account but can't think of a single feature of Gibbs' game, bar his pace, that I would consider as good as or superior to Baines'.
Baines didn't set Goodison on fire from the start..
I see your point.
Also a ground on which, the season previous, saw him mastermind one in a sequence of incredible wins to keep them up.Martinez going back to the ground he oversaw Wigan relegated at last season.
Any effect - either way?

Arsenal have never embarrassed Wigan under Martinez as far as I can recall, I will trust Martinez in figuring out ways to stop them and let us play our own game.
Hilariously, been on the Arsenal forums and they've been accusing Martinez of being 'snide' and 'overly physical' whenever his Wigan teams came to the emirates. What a self-important bunch of preening dickheads their fans are, I f**king hate them.
I think Gibbs is the better defender and quite a bit quicker. Everything else is Baines though.
