I wouldn't disagree ,thought he was very poor tonight , was looking over to the bench to see if velios was going to be given a shout . He needs to get competition in his position IMHO .
Strikers, like any players, go through patches of good and bad form, we just don't have anyone to come on for him and it's more noticeable being the leading man. He will have a fantastic career, whether for us or Chelsea or whoever, he's allowed to be off for a few games.
I think the lad has a lot of improving to do to have a chance of being No.1 choice at Chelsea. He's pretty average at holding the ball up for a big guy and his link up play needs a fair bit of work.
He's young and I'm sure he'll improve with age and be a top player but Chelsea can't guide him through that whilst trying to win PL titles and champion leagues. Lukaku from his side wants to play not be stuck on a bench. With 18 months left on his contract something's gota give....
I don't think a deal is as far fetched as some think. Wouldn't suprise me to see a deal done come summer, maybe with a buy back clause in there somewhere.
On form or not do you think he has the hold up play and link up play to go into a Chelsea side trying to win a title or CL?
I'll say this. I think he has a lot of upside. A lot of upside.
He's in a bit of a rough patch right now but EVERY striker goes through that.
I'd also have a hard time stumping up 20M right now. I think 12M to 15M would be more reasonable but then:
1) We're the buying club so of course I'd say that and
2) Chelsea don't have to sell.
Difficult to put a valuation on Romelu at the moment. I reckon about 12mio to 17mio.
