Are we angling for Lukaku?

I wonder if by taking Traore on loan, this will help him get up to speed to replace Falcao next season at Monaco, who will more than likely be on the move to Chelsea... which will then hopefully free up Lukaku.

Football is a murky business afterall.

A few things would have to happen really

1. We qualify for CL'
2. Chelsea buy one or two superstar strikers.
3. Lukaku then see's his arse, bangs in a transfer request and professes his undying love for us.
4. We actually do have the money to buy him and can afford his wages
5. Easy as that really.b)

I love having Lukaku in the team but having seen the team play evolve under Martinez in the last 10 or so games I no longer think Lukaku on a permanent is quite the prize he seemed after his first 6 games.

Don't get me wrong I'd love to have him at Goodison and he'd be the best striker we'd have had since the mid/late 80s - but if it turns out to not suit both parties then fair enough. ASSUMING we have some half-decent cash I'd back Martinez to bring in someone else.

Close. On point 3, he doesn't strike me as the type to throw a trf request in, it'd be a quiet word saying he wants first team football, that'll be window enough for us.

On point 4, he's on relatively low wages, and I don't believe for one second that Bobby would be loaning Traore if he didn't have the cash to buy Lukaku in the summer. If he splashes more than £5m the remainder of this window then he's not saving up, but it looks to me like he's got a sizable pot to test Chelsea with.

It's a nice dream but I reckon Chelsea are gonna wanna make a tidy profit if they sell him. We'd be looking at £25 million as a starting point.

This is so unfair to clubs that have less resources. This is like these money-made clubs can buy who they want and put them in the reserve team cos now they are rich and can pay higher wages.

Chelsea are mental when it comes to hoarding players.

If I was a young player, that would be the last place I'd wanna end up.

Most of them just care about their bank balance. They got how many...24 players out on loan! Mental and quite a few of them costed big money.

he did exactly that this summer, mourinho quoted as saying that after the penalty miss v munich he asked for a move, due to realising he would not be viewed as a main striker at chelsea this season

As much as I would love to see Lukaku stay, I don't think it's realistic. There's a reason why Chelsea spent almost £20m on him, and at only 20 years old his value will have only increased (Transfermarkt.co.uk puts his current value at £22m)
Even IF we were to get Champions league football and Bill was to find our a couple more million behind the back of his sofa we have to remember there will be PLENTY of other teams out there who will be scrapping over his signature and more willing to offer big wages too. But we can dream...

Not sure whether anybody else is of the same opinion but the more I see of him at the moment the less bothered I become of him going back to Chelsea. Just hasn't been on it since the game against Stoke before Xmas.

Got to take into consideration his age and see the potential. We've played him into the ground, which won't have helped.
