I just don't see it happening at Chelsea for him. The time left on his contract is not long enough for him to become their first choice striker. I don't even think Jose rates him that highly and lukaku certainly doesn't want to be a bit part player. They will sign a falcao or simlar come summer too, making it even harder for him.

And if he's down to 12 months of contract left in the summer they can't ask for silly figures. I think there's every possibility 12M could seal a deal for him tbh.

Anichebe is also 25! And it took him years and years and years to develop the one outstanding aspect to his game which is holding the ball in advanced positions with his back to goal. Lukaku is 20- and has approximately 8 more goals than Anichebe this season.

He's not the finished article- today would have been the perfect game to have Jelavic start. Or any alternate striker. Lukaku needs a break, maybe also from the fans' for a bit. just to manage personal expectations on him. Bring in Traore.

Theres no doubting that he has took his foot off the peddle these last few games.....early on he was holding the ball up and spraying excellent pass's aswell as scoring goals....Though it has to be said he's suffering from Barkely's absence on the goal front.

the lad has got a lot of learning and development to go, been frustrating at times to watch this season giving the ball away after nice build up play having an awful first touch and our longs balls up to him yesterday left a lot to be desired, we need better than this up front ffs everton

He needs to be so more aggressive on the pitch. Look at the size/build of him, yet i constantly see him outmuscled or even bullied by the defenders. Bottled the challenge with Reid which led to the goal too.

As for the "needs a rest" people, before last night he'd played 90 minutes of football since Jan 1st, how long off are you proposing?

15 Million is about right. There's a lot to his game already for someone of 20. He'll be a Drogba part 2 come mid twenties. To be fair to the lad last night he made more than a few great diagonal runs which Barkley would have picked out so chances on goal would have increased.

People are forgetting he's only 20, for a physical striker that age to be starting every week in a team pushing for top 4 is practically unheard of, Anichebe couldn't even manage that last season when he was 24. Lukaku has a lot of maturing and developing to do if he's going to be ready for 90 minutes week in week out but I'll tell you now if Chelsea offered him to us for £20m I'd snap their hands off, he'll be worth double that in a few years' time.

He is a good player and all and he has a lot of maturing to do all right but that lack of a first touch is very worrying and is something which comes natural to players even at a young age.

I personally would not blow a major hole in the transfer kitty to take Lukaku on a permanet basis.

£10 million would be plenty enough money for him IMO.

Certainly wouldn't pay anywhere near £20 million.
