Are Everton Still A Big Club ?

Technically they still are a big club.

I really think there's a distinction between "big" club and "massive" club.

I would agree with that.

If you take Leicester for example. I would call them a fairly big club. They have a good ground, and they fill it practically every week (based on what my mate tells me). They've played in and around the top level for some years. You could hardly put them in the same bracket as say, Stevenage who are in the division below.

Or even Peterborough in the same division.

We are still a big club, but such status erodes just a little bit as each day passes without investment/new ownership.

Small clubs most of their time obsessing over being big clubs.

That's how you know.

Are Liverpool a small club? They have an unhealthy obsession with United, seem to be bitter towards any other team that enjoys success (Chelsea, Arsenal etc.) & Torres, Meireless, Alonso & Mascherano have all left recently for 'bigger' teams

They are a big club but they're mainly weird mate so they don't count.

Thought we were talking about Everton.

Thought we were talking about Everton.

I was comparing they way were reflected in the media to them, we're often looked at as a small club ('plucky little Everton' - 'punching above our weight' - 'overachieve in 7th?' - 'having a great season because we might finish above them') but I don't think our situation is too dissimilar to there's & there seen as a huge club?

remember when we were known as the bank of england, chelsea were nowt special till abramovich came, city as well till the arabs .think we could be a steal for some big investment team.i still think we are a top club with a fantastic hardcore fanbase.

pretty relieved by the responses here.... expected everyone to say we are a big club

pints all around

We are a big club. 4th biggest in England historically and about 6th now.

We were miles bigger than both Chelsea and City before they got money.

We are massive in terms of britain, but worldwide not so because in the last 30 years we've done pretty much nowt in europe. Liverpool are on par with us compared to squad quality, but they are seen as masive because of what they have done in europe, and merchandise wise. However, if they keep going like they are atm for another 15 years they will deteriorate quite a bit, doubt they will ever lose these fans who dont actually support them but say they do though, i wouldn't want 'fans' like that representing everton anyway

Of course we're a big club. We haven't been out of the top division for nigh on 60 seasons. We've won loads of silverware- 4th most league titles etc etc etc. You all know this stuff of course. If the Premier League became (god forbid) two tier, we'd be in the upper one for sure. Our history is long and often glorious. Money for us would strengthen us rather than reinvent us (city). That's my definition of a big club but if it's all simply down to money then any sh**ty old outfit (did someone say city again?) with big investment can become one. Our recent past has been troubled for sure but let's not forget who we are eh?
