Anyone else very excited at the prospect of us relegating Spurs?

I thought this was interesting.

Everton's was authentic. Fans determined to drag them across the line. It shown.

Spurs, Leeds - just feels like a marketing gimmick.

I understand what you're saying, we are just looking at different sides of it.
We aren't supporters of those clubs though, so we can't really answer it.
Well no I don't think you do because i'm not really looking at any side of it, i'm just saying I agree with the original poster that those people definitely exist because I've spoken to lots of them. I tried to use examples of situations where the same principle might apply to us just to make it more sense to you why they feel that way but that didn't seem to work. That they exist just isn't up for discussion, it's a fact that they do, not an opinion.

Like I said, i'm not suggesting these people actively want to be relegated, but they're generally more relaxed about the prospect because they just accept it as part of supporting the club they support, it comes with the territory in a way that it doesn't if your club hasn't been relegated in your lifetime (or maybe even in your parents or grandparent's lifetime) so the impact is different. Obviously nothing like that can be applied as a blanket case for the entire fanbase, people are individuals and will react in their own way, but generally speaking fans are aware of their club's standing in the game and their expectations are aligned with that. Fans of clubs like Everton and Spurs (rightly or wrongly) believe their club should be challenging for major honours so relegation is seen as abject failure and humiliation in a way that it simply isn't if you support Luton.

They won't go down.

Whole team see a reduction in wage of 50% if they do.

That'll dictate they'll turn up for the 1-3 games they need to.
I'm begining to doubt they will, Yesterday would have been the perfect day to turn up at home aginst one of the other teams at the bottom, instead they looked more clueless than ever. I've already said it the players look like they have packed it in and are thinking about a new club for next year..

I don't understand you? Do you think players will leave Spurs for free?

Levy ensured every transfer he made all had 50% wage reductions if they go down.

If Spurs did go down, any player they sell would have to have Spurs blessing to leave - if they don't choose to sell, that player is on 50% than he's on now.
How arsed is a player going to be if he's on 50% less playing in the championship, they hardly look arsed at the moment on full pay

This has gone on far too long now, but the whole conversation started over Leeds..
Show me some of that fanbase that happily accept it, Not a chance..

how we got down to lower leagues with less expectation, I don't know, but I don't buy the Leeds shout, which was the original shout..

I'm less inclined to wish relegation and ruin on any club after we went through (though I'd make an exception for the RS!). I've got no real beef with Spurs, as far as London clubs go they're one of the better ones. The game will hold no extra significance to me, I desperately want us to win, as I always do, but I couldn't care less about the opposition.

For what its worth, I still think that Spurs will cobble together enough points to get over the line and stay up.

My Dad is a Spurs fan. They mean as much to him as Everton do to me. He backed Everton with me in recent years, when it was looking grim. So I am with him now, and hoping they survive.
Yeah, one of my bros is a Spurs fan, and the other two are Chelsea (don't ask), so could be an interesting couple games in our family! :o
My bro is also a Spuds fan, and he’s been in a morose mood pretty much this whole year… God help me if they get relegated! 😳

There is a tangible authenticity about Everton and it's supporters that you'd struggle to replicate.

It would be pointless them trying to copy us, Completely different city,Completely different mindset.

Without sounded corny we are city that refuses to go down with fight,I think our fanbase was the perfect expression of that over the past 3 years

They'd ultimately just look try hard.
