I think the U23s are going to be a cottage industry for loans to other clubs like Chelsea, sign potential those who make it go into the first team, those who don't are loaned out and eventually sold, think we are following the Chelsea model.
Sounds good, except who are the Chelsea youth players that actually ended up making their first team? John Terry?

I hope we differ from them in that respect.

Fair point,

Nathan Ake is the last one who springs to mind, I suppose you could throw Moses in there too. I think Conte may do it more. They have 38 players out on loan at the moment, they sign them, loan them out for a fee, dump their wages elsewhere and eventually sell them, the whole thing is cost neutral and it's a huge revenue stream for them.

We seem to be doing something similar we must have close to 10,15 players out on loan.

Just looks to me that we seem to be trying to do something similar.

Only watched the first half of the game but looked really strong and direct whenever he was on the ball, a bit Bolasie-esque without being half as clumsy. We played a lot of balls for him to run onto and he made the most of them which is how we got the dodgy penalty call around 5 minutes in.

Looked like he offered a different dimension to the play and even though I can't judge too hard after 45 minutes, it looks like he has the physicality needed to make the step up which is why I think the likes of Davies got the nod over Walsh and Dowell originally, a lot better than Lennon!

Positive first impression from the lad. Couldn't have expected much more in truth. Hasn't even been here a week, but early indications are that is pace and physicality will be asset to us.

....the Echo gives its view;

I tend to judge players in 3 categories; Quality; Attitude; Athleticism.

Quality - I thought he lacked a bit in the first half, missing a volley on his right side and a chance at the back post which he miskicked. A few poor crosses also. 2nd half was much more encouraging, having a hand in both goals. Dropped a ball into Sambou's feet on the edge of the box for an assist as the striker spun and finished, then slid the same player in with a lovely judged pass behind the CB that led to the penalty.

Attitude - I thought was good. It was physical at times and he didn't shirk a challenge. No play acting, played with right spirit. Dead on his feet with 10mins to go and struggling with cramp he still did what he could for the team cause.

Athleticism - his greatest quality. Big, strong with real pace and classy movement.

Given that he'd only just arrived in a foreign country, with a new club, new teammates and coaches it was a very decent start and certainly something to build on.
