Angus Kinnear

Pound for pound commercially Leeds were brilliant when they were in the PL. It wasn't just down broadcast income but also commerical deals - deals with the likes of Adidas were brokered. And investment from the likes of the 49ers was found, See below:

Even in the Championship they managed to do the Red Bull deal which given Leeds context is really massive.

We need a bit of all the above when we are looking at naming rights, main shirt sponsors and ongoing commercial and kit deals in the future.

As for Kinnear its very hard to think that CEO wasn't a key figure in all of the above.

Was just reading Paddy Boyland’s Athletic article and he made a similar point:

During his time with Leeds, Kinnear was credited with helping increase attendances and drive commercial revenues. The switch to Adidas as kit manufacturer under his watch was particularly lucrative and the club ended up with the eighth-highest commercial revenue during their three seasons back in the Premier League before they were relegated two years ago.

8th highest revenues in the Premier League is some going for a newly-promoted side.

Is this the dawning of professional ownership at Everton?

Firstly a manager of strong character and calibre.

Now a CEO with a strong track record and CV to match. Moving Colin Chang into his area of expertise and potentially leading the way by dispensing with a DOF? Restructuring and resetting commercial arm too.

Beginning to exude competence.

Presumably mate - he would have been Arsenal Commercial Director at the time of the move.

When you look at commercial deals at his times at clubs its impressive stable of brands.
Having a quick scan of his CV his background does seems more commercial based, with a fair amount of success.

I think this is were the disconnect with the Leeds fans may have come from.

You've potentially got cut throat deal maker in a position where his decisions directly effect the emotions of the fans

IE when he changed the Leeds badge..he purely looked at it from a commercial point of view and not a emotional one.

i hope he's learned from his mistakes at Leeds because the way our fanbase built he's definitely going to have to be sympathetic towards certain elements when it comes to us.

Rightly or wrongly a CEO will be judged by football fans on success on the pitch, you know they are doing well when no one mentions them.

I certainly dont have a clue who the CEO is at Bournmouth say.

Really when you look at the figures i posted, Leeds and Leicester with their revenue really shouldn't have gone down with the revenue they had.

How good is it to finally see us run like a proper football club? After years of madness—dodgy signings, clueless leadership, and just pure chaos—we might finally have people in charge who actually know what they’re doing.

There’s a plan, there’s discipline, and there’s a manager who doesn’t take any nonsense. No more reckless spending, no more panicking—just a team with fight, organisation, and a bit of pride again. Feels like we’re actually building something for once. About time, eh?

Not sure putting the manager in charge of transfers is "leading the way". It's an outdated model, and for good reasons.

I dont have a particular beef with Angus, but I do find it promosing that Leeds sold 110m more of players than they bought and yet are top of the Championship. They should be in a really good position to add talent in the summer and hold onto a PL spot.

That’s a fair point. I wouldn’t have given them a cow’s chance in hell of getting promoted on those circumstances

That's true. There's trade-off's all over the place which you can see in that Leeds article. How many corporate seats versus normal punter. How much do you charge for a beer? Are you competing with or supporting local business's. Would we take a mega naming rights with 'Red' in the name? How do Everton appeal to a foreign market etc etc.

We want to be able to compete commercially to get a better team. But the CEO needs to do it without losing the club's soul.

Correct mate...We're a fanbase whether we like it or not that doesn't like fundamental changes...or probably closer to the truth, has never really encountered it.

The club is going through the biggest transitional period in it's history.

We're effectively leaving the Old Everton behind and birthing a new one.

There are going to be lot of decisions made over the next few years that the fanbase just aren't going to be onboard with, but from a commercial have to happen.

The job of Everton Football Club CEO isn't not a job you'd envy, but I personally don't think Kinnear will be to worried,he's dealt with it at Leeds so he's probably got a thick skin.

Not saying disregard entirely.

It's just a lot of the noise people are basing that on is Twitter. The same fans are arguing whether their team who has spent as long in league one as the Prem the last few decades are bigger than Everton.

I suspect a lot of them don't like him because of his association to their last previous, and this;

Can't blame them for disliking him for that badge, it is absolutely awful.

We need to move into a position that Spurs probably occupy at the moment where they are so good commercially off the pitch that they’re considered in the top 6 and a good destination for players even when they’re not matching it on the pitch.

Get the commercial revenues to a point where we will never be at risk of going down and then use them to build success.

This could really be a turning point for the club if we can get it right so it’s a big job for Kinnear to maximise the advantage of the new stadium and finally move us back into our historical peer group with the biggest clubs in the country.

Interesting that this appointment gives a fanfare of trumpets to Everton by-passing a role like DoF or DoS as 'the new way forward' at PL clubs.

I remember many years ago when Moshiri brought Walsh in as the first DoF and then Brands soon after and I argued on numerous occasions at the time we dont need this layer of bureaucracy...and got howled down for making that observation....
