Yeah, got into it with them on the Athletic when he was first linked. They are truly deluded. Saying they were internationally known
The problem is we’ve put ourselves in that position where other clubs feel they are bigger or equals. I recall Ron Noades at Palace back in the 90s saying they were bigger than us. Southampton (laughable isn’t it) asking why Koeman was coming to us as it was a sideways step. We’ve just been ran rubbishly haven’t we but hopefully that now changes. One things for certain we ain’t achieving much if we don’t get regular European football

Just a bit. At that level of debate, that person would do well to glance at each clubs social following.
They also think Man Utd fans know who they are. Strange bunch and I like Yorkshire but they’ve always been a bit odd in a self proclaimed way. Barcode (ish) perhaps.

It's crazy isn't it, they seem to think because they were in a champions league semi final and won the league more recently than us that makes them bigger despite having the obvious comparisons about trophies won pointed out to them. Funny bunch.

I guess it raises the question what criteria should be used in defining the size of a club.

Just use bluesky these days and erm... their official account has twice as many followers as ours.

Evertons social media outreach has been a mess forever. Never made the most of American/Australian/African markets when they had/have the players.
I don't care how many "followers" they have, you could never convince me in a month of Sundays, that Leeds are bigger than Everton.
No chance, they've spent about 2/3 of their existence scrabbling around the lower divions of English football.

Yeah but some people seem to think Everton are "bigger" than City cos we won a few trophies 30 years ago.

Football fans are deluded in general.

I wasn't making the argument that they are bigger, I dont think they are, just that it's a poor reflection on evertons social media reach.

I know all fans think their clubs are the best but I really struggle with Leeds fans genuinely thinking there's an argument for them being bigger. One comment from a Leeds fan on the Athletic gives this explanation

"One example would be shirt sales I suppose. Another thing for me when I go abroad - see loads of Leeds fans in terms of towels, tops, pubs etc - very few Everton. Another measure would/could be Sky viewers per game - my hunch is even at out different 'levels' right now we have a bigger audience than Everton"

Utterly delusional.
No one in their right mind believes Leeds are anywhere near as important or bigger club as Everton.

They had the first half of the 1960s and early 1970s and 1992 where they were better than tripe.

Another of the clubs like Newcastle, Spurs and Villa who laughably believe they're anywhere the same status as Everton.

Spurs and Villa are two proper clubs with loads of history.

As always willing to be open minded and give him a chance.

As much as I prescribe to what others have said about not believing too much of what Leeds fans are saying as they’re hardly experts…

…but it’s a little concerning how they all seem unanimous in wanting him gone.

I guess time will tell…
He oversaw the transition Arsenal had on move to their ground
And have indirectly replaced him with a 72-year-old.

I am a CEO - not of a Premier Football club I might add! - and about to move from a regional to a national role. Since announcing I am going I have realised that other than those who work closely with me, everyone else probably has very little idea what I actually do, other than they like getting paid every month as a result. Those that my charity exists to support probably have even less of a clue, and most definitely would not be able to provide a completely informed decision about whether I was any good at my job or not.
employed by both Arsenal and City…if Leeds promoted this season he’s done his job

Villa might be. But still below Everton in the pecking order.

Spurs? Lol. 2 titles - last one in 1961.
Evertons last was in 1987.

I love Everton, to me its the greatest club in football.

But we really do have a high opinion of ourselves.

And im not sure its fully justified, in 2025.

Just for you.
