Angus Kinnear

A summary of his time at Leeds;

Don’t like this “He made it clear that he was deeply against the idea of an independent regulator in English football (which will endear him to the Premier League), and a transfer levy on Premier League clubs, comparing it to Maoism and the Great Chinese Famine.”

There’s a really good paddy Boyland article in the athletic which goes into detail re new structure and rationale for it, as well as Angus Kinnear’s commercial achievements at Leeds. Behind a paywall but here’s the link https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/61...near-ceo-structure/?source=emp_shared_article

Looks like TFG expect clubs to move away from DOF model over time.

I certainly hope so

I don't think we've seen any benefit from it

It's certainly not a "one size fits all" approach to running a football club

It may work for some, but making it the new normal never seemed right to me, and if TFG agree then that's good to hear

Not saying disregard entirely.

It's just a lot of the noise people are basing that on is Twitter. The same fans are arguing whether their team who has spent as long in league one as the Prem the last few decades are bigger than Everton.

I suspect a lot of them don't like him because of his association to their last previous, and this;

I know all fans think their clubs are the best but I really struggle with Leeds fans genuinely thinking there's an argument for them being bigger. One comment from a Leeds fan on the Athletic gives this explanation

"One example would be shirt sales I suppose. Another thing for me when I go abroad - see loads of Leeds fans in terms of towels, tops, pubs etc - very few Everton. Another measure would/could be Sky viewers per game - my hunch is even at out different 'levels' right now we have a bigger audience than Everton"

Utterly delusional.

Just a bit. At that level of debate, that person would do well to glance at each clubs social following.

It’s depressing when you consider we were one of the big five that started the money laden PL, and when you look at world wide social media following we are 11th behind the likes of Villa, and about 10% of City’s following. A shamefully ran football club for a generation by soft lads, BK and FM

At least we do our part for Everton, winning all the awards. Not sure I've ever mentioned it but we always win the awards, including best forum in world football.

Just use bluesky these days and erm... their official account has twice as many followers as ours.

Evertons social media outreach has been a mess forever. Never made the most of American/Australian/African markets when they had/have the players.

Yeah, got into it with them on the Athletic when he was first linked. They are truly deluded. Saying they were internationally known

In reality, social is only a small indicator but if you're getting dragged down to that level of debate around size of clubs....

Facebook
Everton: 3.7M Likes, 4.7M Followers
Leeds: 1M Likes, 1.4M Followers

Instagram
Everton: 3.1M Followers
Leeds: 1.1M Followers

X
Everton: 3,036,127
Leeds: 1,072,829

But then, to be expected. As I said earlier, Leeds have spent as long in league one, as they have the Prem the past two decades.

As for Bluesky - Pfft. Wouldn't even factor it in. Everton have 10.6k Followers. Leeds, 19k Followers. It's nothing. Not even sure it was the official Leeds Bluesky, they can't be arsed to list it on their website, or social links - not that I blame them. I doubt football clubs will be active on Bluesky after 18 months.
