Couple of things that stood out about him, theres a video of Everton at Spurs in the 2-1 game, hes getting interviewed by Elton Welsby who asks if a draw will be enough,Gray tells him no every game should be looked at to win,I also remember reading an article by one player( cant remember who) they said something about a bogey ground or team,Gray says hes lucky at that ground or against that team, that was his mindset

Time to forgive and forget?

I can't be bothered writing an article but his relationship with Everton went sour when he declined to manage Everton following interviews with Peter Johnson. Andy Gray had his name tarnished and accused by fans of being after a pay increase at Sky.

We ended up getting rid of Peter Johnson. Maybe there was something in that interview that he didn't trust?

Is it time to forgive, and welcome him like we do with the other players in that team?
A bit weird this. I dont recall anyone getting sour because he turned down the chance to manage us. If anything people knew we were a basket case, best avoided and respected him for seeing that.

I wont forget what a massive part he played in our history. Yes he had some faults later, as a pundit, but really as far as EFC goes he is, and always has been, a hero.

There were plenty of people back in the day who properly turned on him for not taking the job at the time. In all honesty it wasn’t until a few years later that it turned out the place was poisonous at the time.

A lot of it was made that Gray turned his back on the club and was more interested in drawing a wage from Sky. I dread to think where we would of ended up if he’d taken it - the lack of offers after all but clarified that.

Gray always seems to fight our corner whenever I see clips of him punditing, so there don't appear to be hard feelings on his end at least

Gray is probably one of my favourite Everton players to watch. I have the DVD of the Bayern Munich game and he's just superb in it. They just couldn't handle him

I also love the goal he scores against Watford in 84. No way they'd allow that to stand today lol

In a media full of RS..gray has our back

Time to forgive and forget --There is nothing to forgive and forget for me,just done what he thought was best for him,but i did want him at the time, and sure he said if the Contract was infront of him at the Talks,he would have signed it there and then, but nothing was agreed etc

I like him, he brings back great memories.

He was in an impossible position with the managers job. From what I recall at the time, it seemed he did want to take it on but then for whatever reason, changed his mind and accepted the increased offer from Sky. I think at one stage on the radio it had gotten to the stage where an announcement of his appointment was expected on the same morning.

We were left in a bit of a mess but that whole period was a mess really, it cannot be pinned on him at all.

Loved the guy since I first saw him at Villa Park as a 19 year old against lower league opposition in a cup game. He was everywhere , tackling the centre half and winning the ball , battering defenders when the ball was played in, loved his attitude and loved him even more when he joined us.

Only positive feelings from me.
Just posted some photos of him a true warrior for us at that time -
AG!.webp
