Who else would you start ahead of him in a midfield three?
Whether Gbamin is the answer or not. A holding midfielder is a must. And adding another aggressive box to box midfielder is too.

Gomes has had about 6 good games in 60. Hrs not good enough or not cut out for the prem, move him on next summer, while we can still get a half decent fee, from Spain or France

I think we’d be lucky to get £10million for Gomes atm. Coming off a bad injury and in terrible form.

Sincerely hope Gbamin is good but after those injuries who knows. Real shame for him.

I think we will get more, some utter garbage go for 10mil. he still probably has some support in Spain.

Bar barcelona and madrid spanish clubs dont pay much.
If any buyer has watched him at Everton then 10m is probably all they will pay.
Had hopes for him. I just dont think he will ever deliver now on a consistent basis.
His goals contribution aswell is abysmal.
In that move on group.

Very high wages and still two seasons (I believe) to run down a lucrative contract will make him difficult to shift. I can't recall him putting in a truly top display since the away derby where JP dropped one. He was awesome that day but since then and even before the terribly unlucky injury, well nothing of note really. he has had 60 odd games for us and has likely only performed highly in a dozen at most.
I am not sure if we over-rated him to begin with - quite possible given the dross before him - but the injury has finished him. You can sense the frustration in his body language when he tries to harry or track back to chase someone down, the legs don't have it anymore. Worryingly this translates to a lot of yellow cards and likely a red at some point this season. He should be a backup bench option at the most and we should look to cash in for a discounted fee over the next two windows, assuming a transfer market replacement and / or Gbamin step in.

He was definitely better on the weekend.

If we were set up properly and Allan and Doucoure weren't running around all over the place defensively, then his defensive work (or lack thereof) wouldn't be that relevant.

He is our ONLY midfielder that can pick a pass, for that reason, and from what I saw on the weekend, when he turns up, he can be very effective.

Carlo needs to sort out the midfield shape and stick with it across 3-4 games, just like we did at the start of the season.

Given our recent history and status in football circles, when we sign a player from a "big club" we expect to be thrilled. Maybe, or more likely he has disappointed us so far. I still hope to be thrilled and have not yet given up on him.

One of the less important problems. His form will come back and as someone pointed out above, the system needs to benefit him as well.

One of the few matches he has dribbled forward with the ball, taken people on and passed to someone in blue.

All about confidence and consistency with Andre.

None of you can imagine how he feels after that near career ending injury. I am sure he went through hell during that.

Least of our problems. Play him in a three in a more attacking role so Allan can defend, Doucoure can be box to box and Andre can spray passes about.

I agree that is the obvious plan but the fact of the matter is that he is a crap attacker.

No goals in him, low energy runner, the odd bit of skill it is true but I agree that he has also been a big
disappointment. No club in Spain would pay any money for him as most are skint and because Gomes
is not worth it. Maybe a free to Italy,,,

Anyone thinking the injury has finished him have short memories. He had been poor prior to his injury and his performance away at Aston Villa last season was as bad as I’ve ever seen from an Everton player.

Always remember that for my utter bemusement at his performance. It was literally like a non-footballer had possessed him that day - literally couldn't do anything right.
