He's one of Ancelotti's designated players for being dropped/subbed, so I'm not sure that he's going to be able to nail a place down now.

He's been a game changing player a handful of times in what is now a good portion of three seasons. I just can't give him that label when it comes out that rarely.

I'm sure he's going to be in the XI again in short order so hopefully he finds some consistency. That's the best I can say.

He was more consistent in his first season. You are right though, we would want him to be at that level maybe 2/3's of the time. He's a funny one, as if hes not on his game he is a long way off his standards.

You need players to be giving you 7 or 8 out of 10 most weeks. That´s just not the case with Gomes. It´s been so long since we´ve had a good run of form from him I don´t even think he´s capable of it anymore.

I think the issue with Gomes is he's either a 9/10 or a 4. He probably needs his poor games to be better.

I thought he was better yesterday though. I hope it can act as a catalyst for improvement. He had a very injury.

How things change. It doesn't seem that long ago I was excited about the thought of André Gomes being in the team, but when I saw him coming on against Burnley, I kind of groaned a little. To be fair to him though, he did put in one of his better performances and looked more lively and confident than he has in the recent past. Hopefully, this is a sign that he is moving on and forward from the horrible injury he suffered, and will start playing better for us on a more consistent basis.

I have to admit I’ve lost faith in him. Looked a super player when he first joined but I just don’t see it anymore. Did one or two decent things against Burnley and a few rubbish things. Too many of those players in our team.

I think if we can improve our squad come summer and sell/release those without a future, Andre would be useful squad player. But cant see him being happy as a squad player tbh so maybe best to cash in while he's relatively well thought of.

When did he last have a 9/10 game? Away at Sheffield United was probably an 8/10 and that’s been his best game in a year.

I feel like he's being used wrongly. I think having Allan and Doucoure behind him, getting the ball and then spraying it forward would be good for him.

He's really not that mobile otherwise.

I think the shape of the team looked much better when he came on. This isn’t all down to Gomes been a game changer but Allan and Doucoure improved straight away and Burnley lost their foothold in the game. He played in the 1st 3 games and didn’t set the world alight but the team played with more authority. Switch NkounKou to Left back and Godfrey replacing Mina and I would go with the same team against Chelsea and I would play Gomes or Davies in this role until Ghabin is ready. Hopefully he will be the long term answer.

I said it weeks ago, but his form has been one of the most disappointing aspects of our season since the first international break.

When he's 'on song' the balance he can bring to that midfield 3 shouldn't be understated. When he's a bit more tenacious on the ball is when he looks good - retaining possession and taking it/playing it forward with a bit of authority is what we really need to see more of from him on a consistent basis. He showed flashes against Burnley and the team looked a bit better for it.
