He's quite an enigma. He had some really great moments today. And he also had some really poor ones. It was like the whole experience wrapped up into 60 minutes.

This. Some good, some bad, some very good, some terrible. Enigma wrapped in enigma...

He’s like a Rolls Royce in a Formula 1 race. He has quality but is completely unsuited to the league. Too ponderous, lacks everything we need.

I'm not sure any top league is going to allow as much time on the ball as he needs. Maybe Italy.

I thought he was good especially compared to our other midfielders today

I think he looked better today than he has done recently. We need the extra body in midfield though. Allan and Doucoure can't do it alone.

I thought we took hold of the game when he come on, the balls from deep stopped and it certainly helped Dacoure and Allan. It was frustrating because we should have won the game comfortably based on the hour he was on the pitch without been brilliant. 1st half an hour was shocking. Nkounkou should be starting as should Kenny and let them have a run into the team.

Says it all about the lad that his performance today is considered good. He did some good touches but also lost possession 10 times in half hour

I didnt mind the performance today at all, or the mistakes. They were a bit sloppy, which should come with more sharpness, but he was braver on the ball today and looking to impose his game on opponents.

That means he takes one risks, so things go wrong more. We can love with that.

I thought he looked to carry the ball, and use his power and physique to go past people today, better than at any point since his first season.

We all know he has a great passing range, but it's that ability to carry the ball as well that differentiates him. So hes a big plus from the game for me.

Yes, better from Gomes today he looked leaner, fitter & more direct than he has done since he came back from his injury...

So while I'm glad he had a more positive game I think we need to look for alternate solutions to who the third midfielder should be still.

You can do both things though.

Our focus until January and probably this season is to try to get Gomes right. If he plays at his best, hes a game changing player. We just dont see that enough.

He's been a game changing player a handful of times in what is now a good portion of three seasons. I just can't give him that label when it comes out that rarely.

I'm sure he's going to be in the XI again in short order so hopefully he finds some consistency. That's the best I can say.

That's the Gomes we need but barely have. What a player when he is on form. Does my head in he's so inconsistent.

Have we lost a match where he has played in the 433 with Allan and Doucoure? We've won most matches, tied RS, and came off the bench yesterday and tied.

I know most here don't like the player, but given the team's set up and options, he should start and we should play 433
