The four of them will end up taking turns at playing their way out of the third midfield spot.I think Carlo will have his card marked now. Will be surprised if he’s starting many games going forward. Think we’ll be trying Gylfi, Delph and even Davies over the next few games
Carlos has very few options cause Brands is clueless and has no idea on how to put together a squad. A couple of injuries and honestly we're on a hiding to nowhere.This. He was woeful. Was not helped by playing him out wide midfield. Makes no sense playing this type of player out there. Siggy the same. They are too immobile. And the idea if playing either on each wing was complete madness and I live carlo but cannot be above criticism for this. It did not work and that was clear from the off. In saying that no excuse for gomes not to be able to pass 5 years.
Even with the starting 11 he rarely lives up to first team expectations. He is fine when playing with the starting 11. He has a simple and defined role of being the transition man who helps keep possession and get the ball to our best players (James, Richy, Digne) while also being available for the CBs and All/Doucoure when they are pressured.
It's when you ask him to do more that he becomes frustrating.
He might not be the best deal long term, but in the current squad he is the best fit for that 433.
I back him to start there over Siggy every time and I think he will be fine once he is asked to just do his job instead of being relied upon for more.
The key is to buy not just talent but talent that are winners.Carlos has very few options cause Brands is clueless and has no idea on how to put together a squad. A couple of injuries and honestly we're on a hiding to nowhere.

Exactly what I said to my lad on Sunday. Moyes bought players with character. Yes we got thumped sometimes but we always came back from it the next game. You need a couple of flair players, but mostly these days you need speed and character. The key is to buy not just talent but talent that are winners.
Richarlison for example is a Winner. He hates to lose.
Alan Ball was a Winner, he detested losing, same with Peter Reid and Pat VH, as well as Tim Cahill, all winners. Not every player does. Some, with oodles of talent, shrug their shoulders and accept losing as part of the job.
You get a team of those and you have a WinningTeam.
Talent without a winning mentality may look nice but won't win you anything.
He's also just really bad at tackling. Same as Davies, same as Gyfli. Just horrid players at stopping dribblers in the tackle.

Was really hoping that with have 2 or 3 better players around him he would shine. Sunday was the perfect game to show us what he can do, sadly its not to be.
Anyone else baffled by how bad his short range passing is and under pressure inter-play for an international standard player? When he’s got time on the ball he can pick a pass and open up play, but too many times I’ve seen him play a man short with a weak pass, lose possession and be on the back foot. Reminds me of Rooney when he came back, his short game was shocking at times and we’d often lose soft possession
Add all 4 + Iwobi to the list of deadwood...Davies and Siggi are nothing to do with Brands - but the rest??I think Carlo will have his card marked now. Will be surprised if he’s starting many games going forward. Think we’ll be trying Gylfi, Delph and even Davies over the next few games
Given so many players seem to have the same issue that would indicate it's maybe more of a coaching issue.Sigurdsson is the same. Davies gives it away a lot on similar circumstances too. Seeing as that's a good chunk of our midfielders in the squad then it's a bit concerning.
