John McGinnis fractured his ankled about a year ago and the guy looks fit, hungry and is playing well, why has Andre came back sluggish and slow and we make excuses for him still

One was signed from Barcelona and the other hibs

haha.. yeah tbh he has thrown in Some games where he shows the strength he clearly has and the range we thought we were buying.. but they so few and far between. Even his first season he (in general) didn’t do much either side of the center circle.. so for me, the Gomes I expect is not one I want to see on the pitch.. I’m genuinely surprised when the best of Gomes rocks up

It's a fair question, but I'm not sure the answer is that he's being lazy. I think there is a mental aspect to the question that hopefully Ancelotti can unlock.
dunno if its mental. I've seen him play like @#$% more than a few times for us but I think he does try. He's just stuck in a league that priortises running and as one commenter pointed out, it looks physically painful to watch him run.

In his loan spell he was our best midfielder by some distance .

I don't recall anyone being anything other than happy at his permanent signing with comments like " Brands is a genius to get him for only £25 million".

After his permanent deal he was very in and out with more bad games than good. I can't ever recall with the possible exception of a game against the RS him dominating in midfield.

Since his injury he has been a poor imitation of a professional footballer. I don't know if it is physical or mental but he looks completely finished.
I do remember a RS mate drooling over him in the game against them at Anfield. Think it was the game with the Pickford clanger? His loan spell he was fantastic. Since then though it’s been all down hill.
