I was absolutely pining for him to come back after his loan but in the late/post Moyes era there’s only one centre mid I wouldn’t have over him and that’s Cleverley (at a stretch)

Wrongest I’ve ever been about a player, it’s not even cus of the injury, I was just blinded by the tan, beard and occasional 30 yard pass

The worst thing you can do with footballers is get to enamored with the spectacular. Most of the game isn't that. It's like Barca paying 140m for Coutinho and failing to see him offering precious little when he isn't scoring from 40 yards. Unfortunately that's kind of Andre. Moments of class that are rare and between them it is very little.

I don't think he is. He's a pivot player. They need players around them to do the leg work.

It’s a rubbish excuse anyway. Look at Matic for them, he’s a midfielder with no pace whatsoever, yet every time he gets the ball he actually drives forward into space and advances play up the pitch. Not once have I seen Gomes do that, actually be progressive with the ball. His job is seemingly to get the ball and pass it to whoever is next to him. What on earth is the point in that?

It’s sad to see, but Andre is offering so little these days. On a totally different planet to the likes of Bruno Fernandes, and not in a good way.

We’re going to need CM reinforcements ASAP I think.

i think he ll be bombed out in january and his place taken by isco or khedira.

Even in his first season there were only a few games/moments where he looked the real deal. It was all mixed in with some very poor and inconsistent outings. Since then, even before the injury, we've seen exactly why Barcelona fans never wanted him to play.

I feel sorry for him, he obviously struggles with certain aspects of the mental side of things for whatever reason and no amount of money can stop your head playing tricks on you. I hope he can find some stability and confidence in himself as he has a lot of natural ability but he overthinks the game.

It's hard because without doubt if everyone is on their A-game, Gomes is one of our better players technically, he just is struggling and you can see it he lacks confidence.
