No I didn't swear at the tv. At first glance I did think it was a foul, but isn't that what VAR is for? As soon as you see it from another angle, it becomes clear the ball was won. The commentators had come to that conclusion before the ref had even had chance to take a 2nd look at it.

Yes fair enough, very honest post, I swore at Gomes through the TV but once I saw the replay slowed down I was confident the penalty would be wiped off, very close though, good job he never cut his toe nails before the game.

Some of them go beyond criticism mate. I just don't get why some fans need to be so vitriolic.

For what it's worth, I hope that Carlo picks Holgate in midfield today if Coleman is ready to come back. Gomes doesn't offer enough when we don't have the ball and Davies doesn't offer enough when we do.

Fair enough, Always gonna be a few who go overboard on criticism whether its on here or twitter or facebook.

This is spot on, as it highlights how different the game has now become with VAR, players will now be more likely to take these chances knowing that VAR will have them covered.

I think i said at the time of the full transfer that we shouldnt pay £20mil+ for him. I was ok with £22mil as its not a huge amount and I was hoping for consistency in his 2nd season.

Sadly its never arrived.



What is his best and how often has he shown it?

Only at Valencia...




If our aspirations are top 4 (like Ancelotti says) we either need another James in the centre /or shift him inside and bring in a top right sided player.

Failing that a monster like Zakaria or a snide like Guimaraes.

Gomes is neither and i dont even know who would want him other than Valencia.




Hes never had 3 consistent games in a row apart from when he played for valencia...

When he was here on loan he was excellent the fans wanted him to sign the club wanted him and if i remember correct everyone was happy when the deal was made permanent
