American Food

Pinegrove Cuban with a side of tabbouleh salad, which is perfect with it. Only in Jacksonville - tabbouleh salad is a sandwich shop staple here.

Not a great picture. Those are Tony Packo's sweet hot pickles on the plate. (check your old MASH reruns for Tony Packo history) The boys do their own smoked pork, which makes all the difference. If they could get this stuff in Habana, they'd use it. That's from people who know.
I read up on the history of the "cuban" having tried my first one not long ago

some nice little variations on it knocking about, additions of salami where italian immigrants were working and stuff

sadly the little Cuban place in Tucson closed down a couple years ago. you can get a Cuban in town, but not like they make.

Pizza Hut here had one on their menu. Ordered it s my wife wanted "pizza", and fr a Cuban sandwich made my a Pizza Hut in a mall in Paraguay, it was still pretty tasty.

Honey...did you not go through the whole thread?
@mezzrow and I covered soul food.

Unless you want me to start posting pics of pigs feet, pig ears and neck bones....

She's right, you know. That said:

Welcome to the Soul Food Bistro, operated by the ladies at the Potter's House Church. That's Oxtail on rice, with some cabbage, cornbread, and blackeyed peas. Thursday's special this week. Do you have ask if its good? I still haven't posted any pictures from Arden's. Oh my. Arden's.

We already did seafood and a chicken/sausage.

Here's seafood and sausage. Unless you want a veggie version, I think that covers it.

Seafood and sausage has Spanish roots - debatable if it is an American dish.... (although with Okra it probably is)

Note the okra. Go back and look at the picture of fried okra.

Like beer, okra is another sign that God loves us and wants us to be happy. You have to know what to do and what not to do with it though.

@the esk - my understanding is that the okra is straight out of west Africa.
