American Food

Traditional specialty here in Kentucky: The Hot Brown.

"The Hot Brown is an open-faced sandwich of turkey and bacon, covered in Mornay sauce and baked or broiled until the bread is crisp and the sauce begins to brown. Many Hot Browns also include ham with the turkey, and either pimentos or tomatoes over the sauce, and imitation Hot Browns sometimes substitute a commercial cheese sauce instead of the Mornay.
More common alternatives to the Hot Brown include using Cheddar cheese or American cheese for the sauce. Alternatives for garnishes include tomatoes, mushroom slices, and, very rarely, canned peaches."

Mexican food is great @Bryan -you got to live and let live Bro. Hands down my favourite food on Mother Earth.

But Mexican food IS American food. Just like you can get curry from a chippy in (YOU fill in correct region, I CBA...)

I walked into my local wearing my Everton cap, and half the waitstaff walked over and started talking football... Much respect for the blues from south of our border, BTW. Broke out into a discussion of PL v La Liga, of course.

Bread and butter pickles... hadn't thought of those in ages either.

Divinity - Christmas food gift of choice for southern ladies of a certain age...as winter is the only time the humidity is low enough for it to set up right.
Yep. Got a box of divinity and Martha Washington candy every Christmas from Miss Lillian. How old school South is that? Hers were oblong, so she could put a pecan in the top of each one.

Edit: needs a picture

Oh wow. Martha Washington candy. My great, great aunties used to make that every year, along with mounds of peanut brittle and a bunch of other stuff I don't remember the name of except as Aunt Maida/Milda/Hulda's candy or cookies.
