Taller and not as wide as that, but pretty much. Was about four inches high. Just solid meat and cheese. Spent most of the holiday eating it, passing out, coming round, eating it, passing out.

I can't speak for the rest of the country, but it's defo a trending style on West Coast. In fact, one just opened two blocks from my place about a year ago. Really excellent stuff. There are probably 4 or 5 withing a 10 mile radius of me that specialize in the Chicago style.
 
Gutted.

Doug Sohn is closing Hot Doug's this Friday. No more palace of encased meats. Too much of a good thing, I suspect. Nobody went there anymore because it was too crowded, I hear. Chicago guys can fill me in - I remember the days right after he reopened. Probably wasn't really as good as I remember it, but maybe it was. Life goes on.

It had to happen someday, but, but... I just wanted one more order of duck fat fries. Never again. Probably for the best.

Oh it was beautiful, but i was watching beautifully svelte women putting away whole pie's by themselves on other tables. Mad.
