American Food

Just shows you what you can learn from others, was out last night with a group of guys from work to an American themed bar in Glasgow called Bucks bar http://bucksbar.co.uk/, a place I wouldn't normally go to. I had a buttermilk chicken burger which was basically a massive chicken breast southern fried coating which you could then choose from a selection of sauces. I'm a big eater and this thing was feckin massive, I had it with salt and chilli fries and the whole thing was delicious.
We live and learn and I have now been introduced to somewhere I'll enjoy taking my missus and the family to in the future.
To anyone living up here or thinking of visiting I would recommend this place for the grub, music and atmosphere.

Anybody made Boston baked beans ? Is it easy ?

I went to the expert, my Mom, who is from MA just outside of Boston. She said she hasn't made it in years, but it's not hard. Soaking the beans overnight is the hardest part.

She couldn't find her recipe to pass on to you, but you can look up recipes on www.allrecipes.com

Here is one I found that looks close to my Mom's recipe.

Cheers, might give it a go. What are navy beans ? Is there a substitute I could use for molasses ?

Anyone been to Tom Halls on the Strand in town? I walk past it often and whilst it looks sound from the outside I never see it especially busy. Are the burgers good?

With the way things are, I'm not sure if this was intentionally funny.

Thanks to @dublinbluenose for jumping in there! I was going to have to post a pic of navy beans and say pick the ones at your store that look like these! haha

Make maple syrup your first choice since it has a flavor closer to molasses, but either one will do.
I've since found a British recipe which use treacle, of which I've since found in the back of the cupboard, a tin which I've had for years. I only use it once a year for a Christmas cake, which reminds me - - -
