American Food

Please tell me it wasn't a Subway meatball sub?

If so I send thought and prayers to your colon.

No, was from a proper family owned for decades and decades pizza joint.

And Subway is funny. I used ot knock it, until I moved to SA. Happy to have them in Bogota. Every once in a while you just want an italian style sub. It's like beer. I'll always prefer some western US IPA, but faced with the option of Aguila or nada, I'm ok with it.

We went on holiday to the states around the turn of the century. Aside from the size of the food portions you are served, I never understood the whole doggy bag thing.
We were staying with friends in Indiana and went out to a "sports bar" which was basically a warehouse with big TV's, seating, a bar and a kitchen. I wasn't that hungry but everyone else was ordering so I chose a philly steak sandwich to be polite. It was huge, it came on toasted bread and was about 6 inches thick. No way I could get through it. I managed half and then our friends started going on about getting a doggy bag. WTF! I don't want to eat it now when I'm pissed. Why would I want to eat it when it's cold and I'm sober.
Seriously. Why is this a thing in America?

on one of my many American trips ive literally watched people sit down order eat about 10% of a meal and then ask for it to be put in a to-go box

its bizarre, its like that was the plan all along

maybe its places that don't specifically do takeaway, but they want to go home with it (maybe the game is on or something),
