American Food

Two upcoming trips looking for food suggestions:
- Flagstaff, AZ (college visit)
- Raleigh / Chapel Hill, NC (college graduation)

Thoughts?

Not sure the formerly of @RaleighBlue is around much any more, but I'll tag him anyway. Someone else on here is in the triangle area, but I'm drawing a blank
I'm close by, but seldom make it that far west to be helpful.

Good pub on 9th street called Dane's Place. No frills but decent food and good beers and staff. Been going there since it opened about 10 years ago (I don't live in Durham but I visit often).

Also Geer Street Garden...another casual place with good beer/food.

Flagstaff
Salsa Brava, Navajo Fry Bread tacos - I had it w/carnitas. If you haven't done the fry bread thing...
Real American Eats. Once or twice with the fry bread won't kill you. Promise.

There's a lot of real estate between those two places.

Fried pickles would be good with that, actually. It's cold, so maybe some grits too.

Now look what you've done... (just don't think of hush puppies)
Frickles as they are known are to be tried everywhere they sell them. Oddly i do not eat pickles at all but the Frickle if well salted is a delicacy.
If anyone goes to Charlotte North Carolina airport, in Terminal C there is a Burger place called “Bad Daddy’s” that is as good as American food and beer gets. Well the 2 in town are better than the airport branch but its still pretty good.

Thanks - doing a college visit in Feb for a soon-to-be freshman, looking at Montana State, Wyoming, New Mexico and NAU. Then early May for niece's graduation at NC State and UNC (she's a bit too smart for her own good, so graduating from both at the same time).

The Pit in Raleigh. It’s very very good nc bbq with a great ambience.

Also Tupelo Honey Cafe has an excellent Raleigh location.

Been a while since I’ve been back though, so not exactly current info. Maybe I’ll come up with more later.
