American Food

Anything that might be regarded as a speciality for the area? Mrs Tree and I are professional carnivores, both like seafood, both like bbq, thai, chinese, japanese, french, italian... very little I can think of that we wouldn't try. She's allergic to cheese and neither of us like coffee, tofu or American bacon but otherwise we're good.
If you're around Manhattan Beach (LA area), there's a restaurant there called Fishing with Dynamite. I worked around California for a few years and it was a favorite for great seafood. A bit pricey but your money is worth more than ours anyway so maybe not so much. You'll want a reservation though.

Also, as a carnivore how do you not like American bacon? Mind blown.

...and In-N-Out. You have to hit the fast food at least once, and that's the one to hit.

Posting this for the good of the order. I can't get In-N-Out from here either.

Any of you delightful colonial types got any recommendations for places to eat in San Francisco, San Jose, Los Angeles and San Diego? Mrs Tree has just informed me that we're going on a family holiday to California with her parents and highly irritating siblings.

NB no vegan / vegetarian rubbish please, and definitely nowhere that stinks of coffee.

Will you be specifically in SF and SJ?

The Bay Area is sorta kinda huge. I can be of help though.

san Francisco mate, anywhere for a burrito in the mission district, you have not had a burrito until you've had one here! my favourite was a place called Taqueria la cumbre (spelling??) also, get a sandwich from Ikes Place, pricey depending on what you get but oh my word!!!

san diego, go to Richard walkers pancake house for breakfast, queues out the door on some days but well worth it if you have the time

LA you can get everything everywhere, its literally a melting pot of world food
