American Food

Nah...Although undoubtedly good, I can't do the cream cheese version.

I grew up on Velveeta. It is comfort food. You don't mess with comfort food.

Do both ;)

I have a Christmas pot luck tonight with friends and I would bet we'll have traditional rotel, cream cheese sausage dip, and buffalo chicken dip.

We are some dip eating fools.

Replace the Velveeta with Philly Cream Cheese and add spicy sausage and you have a top 10 dip of all time.

There's an Italian dish where you take spiced sausage meat, cook it down with red onions, add half bottle red wine, reduce, add two tins of tomatoes, and nutmeg. Cook gently for two hours, add double cream and loads of grated parmesan.

Serve with penne or any other tubed pasta.

Fantastic.

Sounds wonderful.

When I cook this, it will become American Food. With a nice salad. I bet a bay leaf would be good in there while it simmers, too.

Will report later this month. If the other half of the bottle of wine doesn't make me forget.

Bay leaf is a great call, plenty of black pepper too.

Here's a more detailed recipe:

Thanks. That's a lot of nutmeg. Can't wait. I'll probably bash up some fennel seed and throw it in as well. The 28 oz. can is how we get the tomatoes over here. Same amount.

This has to be good on a cold night with a good red. I've got a cheap but drinkable Zin sitting there looking for this kind of an opportunity.

It's a favourite in our house in the winter, we add dried chili as well for an extra kick!
