Five Guys opened in town.

£8 ($12+) for a double cheeseburger. Worth it?

No, for those prices you can go somewhere far better. Do you have a Gourmet Burger Kitchen in town ? That straight up annihilates Five Guys and costs the same.

The Five Guys hype amuses me, it's rep is based purely on it's success in america but anyone who has eaten at an American Five Guys knows that the UK version if a pitiful imitation of the American chain and yet it costs twice as much.

The meat is decent, certainly better than McDonalds, Burger King etc but the rest of it is pretty low quality and like i said you can get far superior burgers with better meat and fillings from places like Honest Burger, Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Byron etc

If Five Guys cost a fiver for a full blown burger it might be acceptable but they charge gourmet prices for non gourmet standard food.

An absolute rinse

If you put one infront of me now id still down it about 10 seconds though

Five Guys (US) single bacon cheeseburger is incredible. But I haven't had one in over a year because they are incredibly bad for you.

Several years ago you could order one with a gym bag full of french fries for about $7. Prices have gone quite a bit up.

1500 + calories and 96g of fat (28g saturated). 2200+ mg sodium.

I'm not all that impressed with the Five Guys burger, even here. The fries, though. Idaho ambrosia...

Had a burger at Byron while I was in L'pool, and it was as good/better than your basic Five Guys, tbh. The Five Guys burger is basically a double burger on a too-small bun (unless you get the junior burger, single meat), and I like the onions sliced rather than diced.

As always, YMMV.

Totally agree, not only the US but globally. Always ask where the locals eat, not tourists or business people.

This is the travelers prime directive. That, and always 'be nice/take care of' the locals.

ive had five guys in both countries and the U.K. Version is as good if not better . I agree on the price but I'm not going to have one every week so I'm not bothered . Plus they import there stuff from America .

As for gourmet burger and Byron being better lol
