Sam's here because nobody else would come. We will tread water with him as manager...Not the one to take us forward. I can't see him here past the summer. Saying that, I'm not convinced about Silva either.

Whoever we end up with, will be here because we will pay him a fortune, not because he "get's us" and truly believes in the "project". That's not necessarily a bad thing. If the next manager produces the goods, he will become a legend...even if he commutes from Norway.

Where are we possibily going to get a long term manager from?

We are an absolute basket case. Our best bet was to back Martinez originally or Koemam.

Allardyce was never a long term option. I can’t stand him, he is utterly and absolutely atrocious. His idea of football is worse than the idea of sitting down with a picnic bowl with cheese & crackers and watch grass grow, just because.

Silva doesn’t even seem a poor choice. Either that or get the plonk out and dinkums give out a shout to Eddie flippin Howe. He would rock Goodison out, while it still exists. There’s ya long term manager, Eddie Howe. Crickey, his style leaves Allardyce in the middle of shark invested waters mate.
I'd not hoped that we could look abroad or elsewhere to find our manager of one wasn't available here that was suitable but the choice was Eddie Howe or Marco Silva then it's not even close. I'd have more faith in Eddie Howe to build SOMTHING of given money and time then I would Marco Silva.

But other managers would come here mate, for the same reason they go to other clubs. Money talks and walks. It's time for our owners to show their ambition for the club, the next managerial appointment will be very telling about how they see the future of this club going forward.

I get you dont rate Silva and fair enough that is your opinion and therefore it makes sense to you to put up with Sam until the summer. I on the otherhand do rate him and think he would be a great long term appointment. If you rated him so would you. The main point I am making is the timing so soon after appointing Sam shouldnt matter if you think he is the right man. It just looks bad but no one will care about that if he does well.
I couldn't care less about how the media or other fans perceive us mate. If I thought Silva was the right man for the job I'd be agreeing with you that we should go get him now, we agree on that at least.

What makes you think that? Just because he's young doesn't mean he's going to be a long term appointment. Since he left Estoril he hasn't spent any longer than a season at any of his clubs. If he came here and did well he'd down tools as soon as a bigger club became interested and if he came here and didn't do well, we'd all want him out.

The Watford job was there to show what he could do in the prem over a season.

He got sacked.

The comments on this thread show just how off the rails and pathetic the club is at the minute. We as a fan base are groping around for some sort of direction or hope while the club moves from one disaster to the next.

We never replaced Moyes and when we came into some money we failed miserably to take the next step.

Apart from that I’m cautiously optimistic
TO BE FAIR, we DID replace Moyes. We had an 'identity' and a thought about how to go forward as a club under Martinez. It's just that a) the wheels fell off after the Arsenal match and then b) it became blatantly apparent he had 0 idea of how to handle both sides of the pitch and c) then became clear that the passing back and forth had no idea how to ACTUALLY break down teams.

The explosive, fast break counter attacking team in his first year was fantastic and what MOST would probably like. ALLLLL the club had to do is get someone with the same type of ideas with attacking but had ANY idea of how to make a defense work. Instead, they figuratively blew everything up to start all over again for no reason wiht Koeman.

*edit* and to tie this all in to Fat Sam vs Silva, Im not exactly thinking Silva is any better than Martinez as they have conceded the 2nd most goals this year.

Silva gots my vote. We need exciting football Dyche & Moyes do not give us that. We need to be more aggressive and score a lot more goals.. this combination will give us more fans and more revenue which means bigger signings.

Yes he got sacked but ever since we approached him he’s been itching to leave. Moshiri probably talked out a deal with him to come in this summer. Silva knows how to use Niasse aka they beat Liverpool and knows how to get quality young players in a team aka Richarlison

Getting players to play for 3 months seems to be his specialty. Over a season he's done absolutely nothing to warrant coming here and getting a handsome transfer kitty.

Fancy having a manager the minute another club lifts their skirt you down tools altogether? He's is a flakey manager who will be floating from job to job every 12 months as a hired gun.

Its very hard to gauge how well he would do with us.

One thing to note is that it may well be that his head was turned and a deal is in place for summer as Mathieu mentions...

Additionally, he wasn't flavour of the month recently...hes been a top coach everywhere and left Watford....in 10th.
