Don’t know whether im surprised or not that Iwobi would even admit that was what went down!
I mean he’s not responsible for how much we valued / paid for him, but he must be aware of the P&S stuff and general fan attitude to whether he was a waste of money or not.
He’s either daft or simply doesn’t care, I suspect it’s the former, but talk about stirring up a hornets nest!

I don't think he's daft or doesn't care actually
I think he's chilled out about it - it's not his responsibility how much he's worth, he's just chilling around his football career having a good time and trying to be a good player. I don't think he's super -driven like some of the best - but he's happy where he is and trying to do his best to play well. That's the impression I get - someone who is aware he's being paid well, tries to enjoy himself and do something useful with his money to help others -and conducts himself professionally, without doing all the extra sacrifice and work that is needed to take him to be 'one of the best'.

We let too many of our players' contract run out. Who's to say we won't actually get any money for Iwobi if we sold him. Some fools out there actually spend money on Maupay

We all laugh about it but £12mil for Iwobi and £8mil for Maupay is still £20mil.

Thats almost 2/3 of the Onana fee.

I know who I'd rather have.

Would but your hand off for £20million for the two of them. Maupay going wouldn’t be noticed and we could replace Iwobi playing Iwobi with a more effective right midfielder for £20mil. Only thing is, will we actually get to spend any of the money we make on player sales this summer?

Im pretty confident we wont have any punishment.

With Chelsea and City now looking in FFP trouble -- per the media -- the premier league wouldnt look too clever attacking 3 clubs.

Weve already had our FFP passed anyway so not sure whats going on at this point.

For me, the decision as to whether to renew Iwobi's contract or not, should come down to length of deal and wages. If we are talking anywhere near the ludicrous £100k per week and 4 years, which has been mooted, then absolutely not. If, however, he is willing to accept £50k per week over 3 years, then, it becomes a deal worth looking at.

Wasn’t thinking so much about whether we’ll be in breach for the last 3 accounting years but more about our go forward position this summer - if we sell players and generate £20mil will we be able to spend that on a new player or will we have to pocket the sale proceeds to balance books and look to sign free transfers or loans?

Sure we could get a better right midfielder for £20mil so would happily sell - if we pocket the money and can only bring in free transfers or loan signings then I’m not so sure.
