Who else in this rancid side creates literally anything?
Nobody in this side creates anything.

You people are bigging up Alex ImPony for making a simple 15 yard sideways pass to a teammate in acres of space. I know its bad, I said it would be bad in August, but lets not get carried and give praise for doing something my cat could do.

I don’t think he is very good at football.
He's probably been our best player this season but it says more about the rest of them.

He's incredibly erratic, which is why he's incredibly frustrating.

His erratic nature is also what makes him an asset though, too.

Nobody else tries to make the pass that he did for the first goal because he's the only one we've got that isn't conservative. But then he does really stupid stuff like hit it straight at opposing players who are five yards in front of him.

He's created a ton of chances this year, that can't be sniffed at. But when you rely on Iwobi to be your creative fulcrum, which Lampard did and we still do to an extent, then you're gonna wind up in bother.

We're not though

It's only in response to people wanting Iwobi out of the side, or saying that he shouldn't play for us again. We are a relegation threatened side totally bereft of goals

If we want to argue whether Iwobi should the the only player who can do anything, that's another point altogether. But the fact remains he walks into our side based on the players we currently have. Not based on the players we wish we had.

I hate him and think hes rubbish, but there is nobody he should be dropped for.

It was the same with Gana, people saying he should be taken out the side, for who? Tom Davies??????

Would you pay him 100k a week mate?

Definitely don't think I'd be offering him that much of a pay rise, he's already on £75k p/wk at least.

I do think he warrants a new deal if even to protect the asset. He is one of our better players, but I'd be offering same terms or just a very small pay rise tbh.

Nothing for any of them until we know what league we're going to be in, mind.

Id acknowledge he can break a line with a pass and we will use him until the end of the season, but he does it once in ten attempts. He’s far more likely to loose possession, break down our innititive or at worse - cause a counter attack leading to a goal then he is to make something. Can he do it, he can, does he do it well or consistently - no.

It’s not about just that though. What you need in a playmaker is for them to stand on the ball and control the tempo, speed it up, slow it down, make the right decisions in possession. Iwobi cant do this, his general play adds to the chaos, he knows one speed, he panics and batters it or runs into a dead end, his play is chaotic, he’s never in control of his own play, so he definitely can’t control a game thus he can’t influence it as consistently as we need from a 32 mill pound footballer, looking for 100k.

Saturday second half was indicative of what I mean, we needed someone to stand in the ball, keep possess, take it and control the tempo and take the sting out of it, like say Arteta would- Iwobi just added to the chaos - doing Iwobi - head down million miles an hour stuff with no composure often leading to looseing possession or the break down. He’s not in control of his play, so he’s never going to be what we need from him in terms of consistently impacting games, for his cost.

Personally id sell him in the summer, I don’t think he’s worth what he costs us at the moment, I accept we need him at the moment, but we need to exit players like him to improve.

A lot of this depends on the manger mate.

Under Lampard I agree. Sean Dyche hasn't and I doubt ever will play with a traditional playmaker.

But I agree, he isn't the 'playmaker' in that traditional sense. He is creative, but it's an erratic type of creation and that means you're never sure what you're going to get.
