Took Iwobi a bit of time to settle; when he did I felt he had a decent game. I know it was Fleetwood Town but a player still has to perform, and Iwobi did just that. Hopefully, he can start bringing that type of performance when we are up against better opposition. It will either make him a valuable asset to our squad or make it easier to sell him... whichever is the more desired option for Ancelotti.

He was stagnant on the left, did not seem to know what to do. Had a decent game otherwise, still can't shoot but was very active.

Perhaps other teams will see this and buy him.. one can hope

Similar to Bernard in lots of ways. The question will be, will we be able to dominate games enough to allow them to flourish.

Currently thinking its a good thing mate, its going to be a long grueling season, injuries are inevitable and we cant rely on James and a couple of others for the season. Im taking the line, of just enjoying not being short for once and having options in the squad for the first time in i dont know how long.

Im really curious now about a lot of players in what what they can do and how they can impact now we have a midfield who can win the ball, dominate the midfield and make the ball stick in advanced positions and give Iwobi, Bernard and one or two others the chance to create and penetrate. Arguably the squad has been unbalanced for years. I dont think we know what to do as fans now its looks to be functioning.

Feck it im gong to enjoy it.

Competition is rife i love it.

For me, if he plays, he needs to do exactly what he did against Fleetwood. Abandon his wing as often as possible and overload the box and central area. We finally have central midfielders that have the ability to cover for him should he go central. He should be a boon for set pieces and crosses as well.

That’s where having a boss RB would come in handy not JJK.

Alex Iwobi Details How Former Arsenal Coach Wenger Decided On His Best Position
Everton star Alex Iwobi has detailed how highly respected French football tactician Arsene Wenger decided on his best position just before he was promoted to the Arsenal first team.

Iwobi praised his former employer for always giving young promising players in the academy an opportunity to train with the first team and he benefited from that.

"The thing about Arsenal which I'm grateful for, they'll give you an opportunity to go and train," Iwobi said in an interview published on Youtube by FOOTY258.

"Even if you are young they'll always need a player to go up and obviously I'll get the opportunity even if I'm told to go right-back, play center midfielder, wherever.

"The few times I got called up and he (Wenger) is the sort of guy that likes players that play forward and I'm also a player that likes to turn and go forward so when it's like three tops, two touch games I'm ready, seeing my pass, I know how to position my body before I receive the ball.

Having run the rule over Iwobi and tested him in several offensive positions in midfield and attack, Wenger chose the number ten role playing from the left wing as his best position on the pitch.

The Nigeria international continued : "There will be a few times he wouldn't expect it because he didn't know what to expect from me so then I'll be able to do it, that's why from say 18 onward to like 21 he would have me playing in different positions across the midfield and I had to play upfront as well a couple of times because he didn't know what position was best suited for me.

"But then he said because of my style of play, I'll be number 10 on the left coming inside because ever since the day I trained with the first team he just admired the fact that I'm able to get the ball, turn and played forward and my first thoughts was always forward so that's something that he's always been proud of me for doing."

Hale End Academy product Iwobi appeared in 98 official matches for Arsenal, scoring nine goals with Wenger in the dugout.

You have to take advantage of his astonishing new girth. People call him fat- I say he is built like a brick house and can be a nuisance in the box for us. He is built like a freakin target man not a winger.

Not a winger then - fact.

all of his good play (goal and assist included) was in the centre. The problem he has, is that's exactly what james does and he's not going to displace him. I then feel bernard and siggurdsson are better if they're playing in that centre position too, when we're more likely to setup with gomes in a 4-3-3 anyway so won't play that formation.

But there's no set formation we'll play anyway, players will just be buzzing around aots in attack anyway.

He's definitely a confidence player, he was pretty poor for the first half on wed, but as soon as he got his goal he started doing everything right. My worry is he has 3 goals, 2 of them against lincoln and fleetwood. You'd imagine he'll be on the bench tomorrow, but i feel if we have bernard there anway i'd prefer to have gordon who has a lot better acceleration and is something different with his head down using the flanks properly. ...even if he himself isn't even a winger either.

I think both Iwobi and Bernard should be subs for Rodriguez. Sigurdsson can do one.
