Yes and no.

It's a bit like how I feel about the internet in general. The internet, for me, was much, much better when people had to sit down at a computer to use it. Smart phones basically ruined it.

AI, like the the internet, is a wonderful tool, it's just the people who use it are often bellends.

In general, I don't like AI-generated videos and photos, but I realise they have a place and can be fun at times.

It’s usually that same generation, like your nan, that you have to explain over and over again how to make a Zoom/Team Microsoft call.

No matter how many times you explain how to do it, they always conveniently ‘forget’ the next time around.

The biggest problem for me is how it blurs reality. We already had a problem with people believing nonsense conspiracy theories and denying climate change and the like. Now we can't even take video footage at face value. Especially how it's been used in America recently (Ice), and just yesterday I've seen all sorts about Netanyahu. People seem to think he's dead and they're using AI footage of him. I don't think he is dead btw but the fact that it's being questioned just complicates everything now.

Depends.

I detest it in art*, music and youtube videos or funnies - these things should be products only of human spirit, soul and experience.

Its been very useful for me in helping calculate and fine tune the preamp I've been making - although it can make fundamental errors and you have to know a bit to look out for them.

Yeah this is the worst use of it. Similar to how the bloated orange corpse kept hammering home the "fake news" thing years ago, laying the ground work so when the truth about him inevitably came out he could just say "nuh uh, fake news" and his followers gobbled it up.

Now we will just be told that any images, even videos we see are AI. It all sounds eerily familiar.
